I found FOUR large tubes of windsor-newton impasto for the original water based oils in my sculpting studio today. Does anyone know if these could be used with Acrylics? I am getting ready to do my Van Gogh Irises, and I will need quite a bit I think...it would be awesome if this would work.

(no idea WHY I have 4 tubes. lol. I also found 4 tubes of really old white oil paint. Since I can't paint with oils for health reasons...no clue. And why these were in my sculpture studio? don't even ask. )

Thanks for the help in advance.

You can paint oil over acrylic but not the other way round.

They are still oils - water-mixable oils are not water-based (it's a common misnomer). They are changed molecularly to be able to be cleaned up with water - the oil molecule won't repel water.

So you still need to follow normal rules for oils. And these still contain oils, so if you were allergic you may still be to these - unless it was the solvents (turpentine or mineral spirits) that you were allergic too.
