My name is Leslie Videki, and I just became a member here. I have heard too many great things about this forum not to join! I am mainly a fused glass artist, but I have been doing more and more lampworking lately. I love it!
I live in Traverse City, MI, and am the single mom to two boys ages 6 and 2.... in fact my 6 year old is a budding fused glass artist as well! His glass suncatchers are in a local gallery!
Here is a picture of one of my favorite sets.....
Thanks for looking!

Wow.... I just posted, and look! SO many awesome people out there!
Valorie, thanks for admiring my fused work... fusing is still my #1 obsession. I have a goal of getting a bigger kiln, and making sinks. Yes sinks.... strange, but I just love the look of glass sinks.... especially will fish and bits of dichro floating around. Someday....
And thanks Laura for liking my beads.... I have been practicing....lol
Here is a fused piece of mine....

Beth remembers when I posted my 6 year old sons first fused work. He has since gotten his suncatchers into a gallery.... I have to say I am quite proud. (Okay, I am friends with the gallery owner, but still.....lol) He sits in the chair behind me, while I lampwork, with his own dididyums....and either watches or cleans glass..... we fight over who gets the kiln....lol. He likes to work art fairs and bead shows..... and yes.... according to him, we are in business together.

Have admired your work on a Yahoo Group we both belong to.
That is a gorgeous bead set! And your son is too cute!!
I just found the WC myself and still having fun getting lost here!

Glassy.... when you make your marbles... try encasing your dichro in clear first.... then the dichroic coating isn't directly in the flame. I often take a dichroic piece, encase it in clear, and pull stinger from it. It does break up the dichro, but it is a really nice effect when you just want a hint of sparkle.
Cherry.... you aren't from Traverse City, are you?? With a name like that, I thought maybe....lol.... and then we could get together because I live in the cherry capital myself.
Jodi..... I am excited to see you here, too. This will be fun!

I have admired your pieces for sometime - seen on ISGB. Wanting to learn how to fuse myself (well, not "myself", but glass anyway)
Welcome to Wet Canvas! I am as addicted to this forum as I am to torching.
Love your son's work by the way.

For those of you wanting to learn how to fuse..... go to http://www.warmglass.com and click on the tutorial. It is the best! I taught myself fusing from that tutorial, and from hanging out in their forum and soaking in knowlege from some of the warmglass powerhouses like Brad Walker and Robert Leatherbarrow. It is an awesome site!
And for those of you near Traverse City, MI, I teach a one day, one on one fusing class in my home....... :D

When I took this paperweight making class with Don McKinney, we used a lot of CBS dichro and it's only afterwards that I realized I had worked it for hours in the glory hole, dichro side out, without burning it at all... so the conclusion is : use only CBS dichro, it's really good quality .
