Welcome to the Glass Art Forum at WetCanvas!

Many thanks to Laura and others who have worked so hard to get the word out to glass artists about WetCanvas! and also for asking for this special forum. It's a great idea.

If you are new to WetCanvas! or this special spot, please do introduce yourself and show us your work. We all would love to see it.

If you haven't had time to read the FAQ (frequently asked questions) which can be found at the top of the boards, please do and if there is something that isn't covered, please do ask. Most of the time, it's best to ask questions about how the boards work in the New Member forum, but if you get stuck, please do ask here and someone will come to your rescue.

Most of the time, it is best to post individual threads to show your work so that others can comment just on that particular item, but if some run together, it's not the end of the world.

The main thing is just to have fun and enjoy seeing what others are doing. Please do ask and answer any question you see that pops up.

Soon you will be jumping around WetCanvas! and waving your hand at everyone.

Hope you enjoy WC! as much as we all do.

Welcome!

Phy...llis, WC! MOM

Here is the thread.

Basically there are Merit Badges, Ribbons, Medals, and Trophies.
You accumulate them through participation.
Or in my case talking too much :D

Here is the list of awards

If you go to the top of the page and press the f.a.q. button all will be revealed to you :D

Hope this helped :)

How do I make a copy of what is on my computer screen?
You need something to capture the screen with. Or, if you are running windows, you can do an ALT-PRINT SCREEN, then paste it into something like Photoshop, etc. Then save it out.

There are also tons of tools out there for doing this as well (snag-it comes to mind).

hehe thank you for the kind welcome!

I wanted to add in something for everyone as well. I have been informed that here at Wetcanvas it is the custom to not post multiple pictures to a thread (pictures by different people, unless specifically asked to do so). So when somoene posts a picture please do not post your own to the same thread, if you have one to post please start a new thread for it. That way others won't get confused and it will make it easiier to read the thread. Now if you want a thread with pictures we are sharing with each other please say so in the beginning of your post. We don't want to take the limelight from anyone else here! This is new for all of us who have been at the ISGB forum because there we just post pictures to the same thread all the time. But the rest of the site is like this and we should try and keep within the guidelines!

So from now on! Maybe we can have a thread for each individual artist as well, something like Kimberly Affelck's Beads, and when posts a new bead it will go to the top and we will know there is a new picture from her! Or if you prefer start a new thread either way I believe is acceptable!

Thanks to Elankat for telling me at length about this! I get it now!

Thanks to everyone here, this is such a wonderful site!

Thanks Laura for that further explaination about the threads.

Actually it would be great if each artist just started a new thread each time they had a new piece to show. The reason behind this is that when so many images are in one thread, it makes loading really slow. One, two or three images per thread are the norm to keep the thread running fast.

Sometimes someone might want to put up an image showing a problem they are having and then others put up images that show how to correct that problem... all of that is perfectly acceptable and there are many many threads at WC! that have lots of images attached.... it just takes longer for all the images to download for viewing.

Hope i'm not stepping on your toes here Mom, but i thought i'd go ahead and throw in a cheat link the the 'Site Discussions' forum too.
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=8
This is monitored fairly regularly through out the day and you can usually get some quick answers there to problems with cookies and so forth. It's also a good place for ideas and suggestions for improvments to the site or just about any site related question you may have. It's listed near the top of the main forums menu.
I too will be happy to answer any questions regarding the site.

Don't worry... Be happy....

Whoops... wrong forum... I thought I was in the Singing Forum... LOL

Seriously, don't stress to much about rules. If you jump around a bit, you will see that none of us are strict about posting and sometimes it is very good to post like work in the same thread so we can discuss issues.

Just as a tip though, if you use the image attatchment upload instead of the uploader at the top of the page, then folks can find all your images in a list using the Attachment Locator Service (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/browse_attach.php) It's really cool.

Valid entries include nudes, studies of the human form, etc. Works displaying sexual activities ARE permitted, provided the art is tasteful, and does not illustrate the perspective of physical penetration. Posting pornographic photographs would obviously not qualify as erotic art.

I wanted to clairfy this part of the guidelines so that you would know that you can post your work and tell others it is for sale, you can direct others to your website and otherwise talk about your work. This part of the guideline targets what we all know as spam.

We are all artists here and as such most of us want to sell our work. It's just not appropriate to solicit membership to workshops, magazines, or other products made for artists. We do offer Advertising on WetCanvas! (http://www.wetcanvas.com/MediaKit/AdKit/index.html) and would be happy to assist you in promoting your product to artists.

Just further clairfication about selling on WC!

<----------------------------------------------------------------------->

Some artists do sell their supplies on the message boards but just thru placing a link in their signature line showing their web address.

To sell supplies to artists on WC! you would need to use the media kit unless your company was just an employee of one.

If so, you could sign up for Web Hosting with WC! and make a banner ad that would rotate with others on the top of WC! forums. That way you would support the WC! site, and make a banner ad so that artists could see you have supplies.

Several times our site has been flooded with folks coming to sell supplies to artists and to protect the boards against this, we have made an unofficial rule that we will leave the first post about supplies as a courtesy but remove all others.

Thanks for your understand. You can still talk about your work and your supplies, you just can't leave posts specifically targeting the sell of supplies without them being removed.

Again, this does not apply to our art work as the final product. It just applies to supplies, workshops, books and other things that artists might market to other artists.
