This is mixed media, 19"x24" on 140 lb watercolor paper. This has so many layers, it's hard to photograph. Imbedded in the piece is 'walk in the Spirit' in a number of different languages. (I hope igoogle gave me the right translations!) Any c+C welcome- I know it's pretty fervently Christian symbolism, forgive me for that. Some people may offended by Christian symbolism, but it's personal, I'm not pushing it on anyone else. I'm presenting it as a composition like any other.

The idea behind the flames is Pentecost- a time when the Holy Spirit came down with flames of fire and inspired the disciples to speak in many
languages. I also introduced the green for new life (and to prevent it from looking like a scene from Hades! )

Hi Virginia!
I like the white little figures, the movement of the great figures, the writing and the grids, the colors work well too...the only thing I don't like is the cross...I think that the whole work has lot of symbolism in itself even without it...

Hmmm...maybe you're right about the cross- it could be too prominent or un necessary.... thanks for looking.

i don't think it is overripe with christian symbology... the cross isn;t too preachy if that makes sense.. it seems more tribal.. people around a fire.. the cross seems celtic and appears more like a plus sign.... this helps.... i like the painting and walk in the spirit can be taken without the christian -ness do you sell these?

Yes, sometimes I'm lucky enough to sell some! I think probably 7-10 in the last couple years. I've been meaning to make a file of the ones that sold to see what they have in common. Most people like the Celtic knots. The dancers are a crowd pleaser too. This one was just begging for text- that's a new element.

Hmmm....it depends on the size and whether it's framed or not.

This might go for $300 unframed. That's a real ball park. It has to find the right audience. No guarantee on that! Like Robert Genn says, you have to keep putting the hooks in the water! Some shows I sell nothin' and some shows I sell a couple. Sometimes the acrylic landscapes sell, sometimes the abstracts. When you figure out the pattern, explain it to me, would you? It's a real mystery. But they can't sell unless people see them! That's why I blog and show, hand out Vistaprint postcards and send out email notices to my address book!!:cat:

Wild imagery. I love the composition of these. Very uplifting with the imagery. "Baptism by fire" < grin > . One of my favorite sayings. Fire often a representation of spirit. Good work.
