I was wondering if anyone knew of a varnish or sealant i could put on a scratchboard or clayboard.....You know, give it a smooth clear glossy finish, but such as it could not be etched any further........any info would be helpful, so please lemme know

I work in scratchboard some, but have never heard of a product like that. I will be curious about any replies that you get though.

I don't know much about skratchboard but I was reading an old article in The Artist's Magazine about a guy who colored his skratchboard with inks (cool looking stuff). He used a regular spray fixative on them. Don't know if it helps, but it's all I know.

Ampersand (http://www.ampersandart.com/) makes a varnish for their boards, but any non-yellowing acrylic varnish will do.

hi skydog and welcome to WC. I have done many scratchbord drawings and when done I seal with a clear krylon fixative giving the shiny appearance u talk of. For me its easier to get then the ampersand brand. Would love to see some of your work posted... :) hope that helps also.
