Hey all,
For those of you that know me well, some time ago you would have heard me talk about my plates (and probably not much else). Well FINALLY, the pics were developed and scanned, so I have them here for you now. There's a close-up of the dinner plate when it's finished and ready to be fired, then a larger pic of the full set, in various stages of completion.
In case anyone doesn't know, here's the background story, in a nutshell.
Some 6 months ago I moved out of home, and knowing that neither myself nor my roomie had any plates, decided to make my own. My mother is a professional potter (Tj's just posted a thread about it in the Cafe, if you're interested in seeing some of her work :) ), so I asked her to do me up a set. Instead of just glazing them, I decided to put in HOURS of back-breaking effort to paint them (using underglazes) to my own specifications - as everyone should know, I'm an Egyptian fanatic. :D Anyways, here's the final product. Each one took on average of 2-3 days of *solid* work - 9 to 5, no arvo break type stuff. *L* I had planned to use them as an everyday set, but now after all that, I think I'll just save them for a special occasion. Lol.
