I am trying to keep up with all of you!! boy you are a lively bunch!!!
{calm down and no crowding;) )
I am trying to deconstruct even more and also less with color..pleeeze tell me what you think........two questions:
1.Which comp looks better?
2. does it look stupid?http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/23-May-2008/118892-IMG_1392.JPG http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/23-May-2008/118892-IMG_1393.JPG

What emotions you manage to get in your faces!

I like the first comp best. However, for me, it would be improved by losing a bit at the bottom, so that the horizontal lines are around a third of the way up. Just my opinion though, its going to be striking whatever you do.

i like the left one better but could stand alittle center of interest in the lower left area but not too low.. beautiful.  i love the bits of color here and there which really give it some interest.. is this another pastel? what brand do you use?

graphicali---I see what you are saying..the horizontal line is in the middle...thanks so much I didn't even see that......
timE- do you think if i add some dark strokes in there it would help?(in the lower left) is that because your eye goes there first maybe?..this is pastel on suede matboard...using nu-pastels and schmienkes (supper soft ones)
thanks guys!!!

They are both beautifully neat, the top one i like more because of things going on just under the surface.

what first pops into my mind is adding another wavy line you seem to already have a natural wave there and i kinda think it would look like a landscape after adding this there which would add a little abstraction to it.. maybe adding some yellow ochre here and there... however you do it i'm sure it will be beautiful.. you're so talented...:)

This looks timeless and beautiful! I agree that you do absolutely amazing things with faces and portraying emotions. I also like the first one, she seems to be carved into the side of a mountain.

plus if you trim it it would lose the golden ratio thing you have going...

I like the first too!my vision is a woman with her arm leanedon a low wall, she seems a bit desesperate...I hope she is not near a river....
beautiful work full of emotion!

I join to the chor: also prefer the first one, because of it better proportion! Love his/her look, just amazing!

Wow like the first one like others have said with a little less on the bottom but not centered like the second image. Love this - absolutely

I think the first composition is the best, just as it is, without any cropping or other changes.

Nice images, by the way!

I agree, the first one is perfect for me

Alicia... Your work is exquisite and a joy to behold. I loved your 'Imp' also.

Both compositions work but, for me, I prefer the first (oblong one) with more under the head. It has enough lines for my brain 'finish' the painting and it seems more mysterious with the greater amount of surface-to-face ratio.

What beautiful art you make! I look forward to more...

I prefer the first one, but only just. I love the feel of these.

this is really great, abstract and yet you have such expression and feeling in that face...love it.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments and helpful suggestions.
I will keep with the first comp, I agree it is bettter. I am croping it a little for your suggestion, I haven't done it to the actual painting yet.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/26-May-2008/118892-IMG_1392.JPGI took off about 1/4

Lovely- I like them both but #1 is the one that draws me in. #2 is very intimate.

Both are beautiful.

Effectively suggestive and atmospheric background...and well-drawn expressive face...it's definite-the left!AND the new slight crop, IMHO!
