Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and recognize many of you from isgb forum.

I have been making glass beads since November 2001, so that makes 8 months. I think I am getting much worse at it as time goes by. :D

This is a really nice forum and I love all the features and categories.

Oh, I SO doubt that, Elizabeth! I've seen your beads many, many times and they are wonderful. But, I do know EXACTLY how you feel. I wonder if there is a 6 - 9 month "slump" or something? Like, by that time you're familiar enough with the whole process that you're not challenged by "simple" beads (which may be absolutely beautiful) and keep going after the challenging stuff. I'm at 6 months and definitely have been feeling that way.

Also, I was thinking about starting another thread about this, but it kinda fits here... Does anyone else feel like they only really make progress if they torch everyday (or close to everyday)? It's not like I can't do it after 4 or 5 days, but nothing "clicks" - at least not for a session or 2.

Post some beads, Elizabeth! Those beads you made using the zig zag thingy I posted were GREAT!

Yes, to pick up Beth's topic, I have such trouble making beads again if I take a few days off. When I work everyday, even for a couple hours, everything runs smoothly, and I feel like I'm learning, and in general doing pretty well.

However if I take 2-4 days off...my goodness! It seems to set me back so far, and will take a full day, just to get back in the groove. I'm fairly new to lampworking (4 months), so I'm sure as I get further along, the 'breaks' will have less impact.

What are your experiences with days off, or slumps?

Welcome....those are great beads and a finished piece at that. I know what you mean....the more I learn the less I seem to know. Like how to get a picture up. I am waiting for my expert to get home to "upload" for me.

i just looked at your crackle bead entry. the black seems so smooth- creates a great texture with the clear. I like your bead on this forum, too.
