View Full Version : WC bead/ marble exchange? Anyone for it?

07-10-2002, 02:42 PM
Hey- Seeing the post for the Anonymous Wonky Bead Exchange got me excited... Is there any interest in doing a WC glass Exchange? I'd be happy to host the exchange and anneal for anyone that needed it. Let's see who's interested and then we'll go from there. Give suggestions for themes! Perhaps a "challenge" exchange- everyone do a technique that's new to them, that way it can be open to all skill levels. Let me know what you all think...

Hi Margaretz
I'd be interested but only if the deadline is not before October as I will be in the US (i.e. far away from my torch) in august.
I like open exchanges, no skill level or theme required. I love to see the different styles.
I was first involved in one (60 beads... way too much but I didn't know at the time) two weeks after I began torching and it really profitable as I struggles to find an original design matching my skills (very low at the time).

I could handle a one-bead swap type exchange, but the multibead exchange would be too much for me right now. Though, if enough are interested in that type, go for it! Anne is right - I learned TONS from making 20+ zig zag heavily encased beads! It certainly reinforces technique!

Hi Margaret,
I would love to do a bead exchange! I've never done one before so I must confess to feeling a little intimidated...I've only been lampworking for about a month and a half so my skill level is pretty low...Okay, I'm not going to talk myself out of it - count me in if it's a go!

I think a WC bead exchange sounds great. I would probably not be able to do a multiple bead exchange. But if someone wants to host a single bead exchange, I'd be happy to join in.

Sounds like a single bead exchange is a good idea. I'd be happy to host, and I promise to have a non-bead person- randomly distribute beads! I'm already excited to see them all. For those that are interested, what is a good due date for the beads? This is my first time hosting an exchange, so please let me know if there's anything else I need to consider.

A single bead exchange would be great. I just did the Water Bead exchange on the ISGB site, I cant wait to get my beads. Anytime is good for me.

A single bead exchange would be great for me too.
More than that would be too much for now....I'm currently involved in 4 exchanges. Yikes.

OK- How's this sound? A due date of Sept. 15. This will give us plenty of time to make our bead for the exchange. I know it's a little late, but this way everyone that has lots on their plate can participate. Is this something I should post a project for? Let me know what you think.

I have never done an exchange and have no idea how it works.

Having said that, I'd love to get into a single bead exchange if ya'll could tell me how it works and what the guidelines would be.

So far we've got 14 participants. Any one else? I have a list of names and I will PM everyone with the specifics in a few days.

Thanks Margaret,
I'm in.

Hey I'm a marble maker, but I think I can make it turn into a bead! count me in for one.:D

07-11-2002, 11:36 PM
Hi Richard,
I don't know about everyone else, but I would be just as thrilled to get a marble!!!

07-11-2002, 11:42 PM
Misty, I'm gona make a marble. then turn it into a bead/pendant.

Bet harold can't do that?

07-12-2002, 12:32 AM
I'd say that since WC isn't a strictly beads forum, there's no reason this exchange needs to be strictly beads. Make whatever you feel inspired to do!

07-12-2002, 12:37 AM
Gee, I hope I get lucky enough to get a marble (or 'bead-marble' in Richard's case), from one of the marble artists!

I'm crossing my fingers...Valorie:cat:

I can do a single bead for Sept. 15. Please join us even if you are a novice. I LIKE to get novice beads in exchanges! It is a great way to learn.

I'm a novice! Count me in, too!
