Ok ..I have been making Lampwork Beads since Memorial Day and I still think I pretty much stink at it.:D but hey..I love doing it.
I can't seem to make a nice round balanced bead. I will not give up, I will not give up. LOL
This bracelet is ivory and dark brown morretti and the silver on it except the clasp is salvaged from Mom's old jewelry.
annnd I have a new tiny head and man, is it ever tiny:D hehehe.

Nonie, Thanks for sharing those great photos! Your first heart? Very impressive...nice shape and colorations. And only a month or so into lampworking! Your bracelet is lovely, and those colors are fantastic. Lots of practise, and the round, well balance beads will come. You've got your surface decorations and technique well on its way!
Best, Valorie

I think you're doing a great job, Nonie... don't be so hard on yourself!
My beads looked horrible after a month or so, and many now after 6 months are wonky as can be.
I think your bracelet is pretty- i like the colors and the mix with silver looks nice too. I found that my technique got much better when I spent lots of time on forums like this, as well as reading and rereading both Cindy Jenkins and Jim Kervin's books. And of course, practice, practice, practice... I still have a long way to go before I consider myself a good lampworker, but these things helped lots. Happy torching!

Nonie - those are wonderful! You must be happy with those - very nice. And I struggled with the round bead for a long time - partially because I'm anal retentive and partially because I just hadn't quite gotten the "feel" yet. And I still struggle on getting the perfect "footprint" on the mandrel - if you nail that when applying the glass initially, life is good. If you "whomp" it on there (to coin a phrase from Vince...) like I seem to always do with white, "round" is an uphill climb from there...

Have fun with the new torch!

Thankyou kindly Valorie. I am having so much fun. I had a great time making my heart.

That's me B2. Anal retentive ..hahahaha. You hit it on the head.
You see...I come from a family of artists and have always been the one with the least talent ..LOL..in my estimation anyway.
So I guess I am particularly hard on myself. Like I said though ..I just love this sooo much that I know I can only go forward and get better. You guys are soooo supportive. I can't say enough what a great find this board has been. Thankyou!

Hey Nonie, You're doing great! Beautiful bracelet that I bet looks great with everything. And the heart is adorable. I agree, you're being tooo hard on yourself. And guess what, it only gets better. (Exept on the occasional bad bead day. ugh)

Nonie, you're doing really well!! That heart is really nice, and your bracelet looks great. I remember thinking that I'd never get the hang of it, but the more time went by, the better I got. Stick with it, and you will be amazed at what you can do!

Back on the old SGB forum, bunches of us posted pix of our first beads. I think I'm going to start a post like that again because we have so many newbies who probably never saw that thread.

Keep up the good work!
