Will someone please advise on the usage of these options.

I am assuming that "New Thread" applies to posting a "NEW" thread for the first time as I am attempting to do here.

Is the "Post Reply" intended for someone to reply to the original author of the "New Thread"?

And is the "Quote" option for those who wish to respond to a previous replier above their post?

I'm so confused....will someone please unravel me? I keep getting emails from WC notifying me that someone has replied to my post when they were members actually responding to the original authors thread. They seem to be from people posting after me.

Aleta, there is an option below that is automatically checked that basically "subscribes" you to each thread you reply to. You can uncheck it if you don't want email notification.

Yes, new thread is as you said, and on WC there is only one "reply" button at the end and basically you are replying to anything in the whole thread - hence the possible need for the "quote" option (which I haven't used and can't help you with yet.)

You seem to understand. Just note that the email notifications mean that someone has replied to some thread you either started, replied to (with option on) or specifically chose to subscribe to.

I guess you just click on the "quote" button beside the specific post to which your comments reference.

You have started a thread by making your post on a specific subject and I am replying to your thread by making my own post, so you were right about the first two! If you use the quote feature, you will also be replying, but all of the post you are quoting will show up in your reply first (I have edited some of your text out, just to show you what happens).

If you are getting emails from WC telling you about new posts to a thread, whether it's your thread or someone else's, you have subscribed to that thread and will get those notices in perpetuity. If you don't want to get more emails, unsubscribe to the thread (go into MyWC! -- blue button in the upper middle of the screen to do that).

Oh, and welcome to WetCanvas, Aleta!
