MY COMMENTS:
With this piece I took a photo image and transformed it into my own impression....sort of like a template....but the orig. photo image is no longer detectable.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Do y'all deem this piece sell-worthy.....i.e., coffee mugs, fridge magnets, etc.? I don't think any of my art is WALL-WORTHY.....ya know, like in a frame on the wall?

Wow...very whimsical and pretty! I can see it on mugs and stuff, easily. On a wall? Quite possibly, though probably not very large. Maybe with a caption of some sort; greeting cards, for sure.

Only one thing bothers me slightly; the "bubble" on the leading wing edge made me immediately think "blister." Spent too much time doctoring farm animals maybe....I really like the starry effect.

:p Aloha! Jaelle......
thank you for your input and kind words. Too funny! .....a blister on her wing! Now that you mention it.....you're right....now that's all I can see. Better go fix it,eh?

I tried to reply once and it got lost....anyway. I was going to critique the composition of the initial image until I saw the larger one. I'd love to see your work on more than mugs. When I saw the chicken as well, it struck me how beautiful these would be as children's book illustrations. Perhaps you should submit a portfolio to some publishers and see what happens. :)

:p Dear Bellydancer,
I am honored, thank you. I need to see through the eyes of others when it comes to my art......it helps me to get a new perspective on things.

I have searched repeatedly on-line looking for a way to get my art selling in many categories, i.e., Card co., Cafepress ( ), Art agents, U.S. Postal Stamps.....aaaaaagh! But, I have not persued "children's book" illustration. I don't know if I can do/create art for others......their demands.....I don't know how to put this.....AND! I would be willing to try.

Reckon I'm gonna have search out Publishers this week....why not? eh?
thank you again.

One of the first things I thought of when I saw your work was how nice it would be to be a child and dive into a book filled with your imaginative, colorful, and misterious illustrations. You should definitely persue this avenue, especially if you have a portfolio.
I also thought of "inspirational" calanders.

My constructive critique: I agree with the blister effect. If you like the shape, cosider a featherly texture. Also, what about a couple delicate flowers on the end of the twig?

I'd like to see some more of your work. Was this done in Photoshop and Illustrator? I'm just getting acquainted with Photoshop Elements. Any advice?

Aga

:p Aloha! Aga,
thank you for your time to support my art and the critique. Hmmm....a few flowers at the end of the twig? sounds good.....and Hmmmm ....some feathers on the blister? sounds good.
I am limited in my creations by my puny, but loved, Adobe Photoshop LE.....I wish I could afford the "REAL" Adobe Photoshop 7.0....but, it is over $600 (?).:crying:
So I just do what I can with what I have.
