View Full Version : Names of materials in different languages

I am sure I am not the only WetCanvas non US resident with a non-English first language. I find it difficult to understand/follow some of the reasoning on materials where either the manufacturer is not represented in my area, or where I can't find a translation.
Now, my idea. Could we collaborate on creating a material multi-lingual dictionary? I volunteer to put in as much as I can from the books I have.
I feel this would be of great value to all international Web Canvas visitors. If others like the idea I think it should be published in some other format than here on the message board.

What do you think would be the best way to submit entries/contributions? Also, what format should the result have?
I am thinking that once it is published people want to either look up a term in english and get it in their native language, or vice versa. Alternatively I just do a structured document say; mediums, thinners, pigments (blue, red, ...) etc. This would probably be the easiest and should probably be useful since the amound of data is not *that* big.
What if I write the first version of the document and submit it to scott (email). Any questions or comments goes into this forum.
