I've just purchased oil pastels, about 10 of them, and I'm just learning the techniques. This is a jar of mangoe pieces and red peppers in a glass vessel that I have in my kitchen. I used Stratmore 300 for charcoal, but I wonder what other papers the oil pastel community prefers?

I like the brightness of the work. There may be more visual interest if there were more contrast between the pieces of food in the jar and the jar itself. A great study for learning from though.

Thanks, Mel. I see now what you mean -- more definition of the fruit pieces within the jar, and perhaps less color on the jar to emphasize the light... I'll try it again.
