I painted this at the old film set for a western tv series called "high chapparell", at Old Tucson Studios Arizona. It's my first real dive into western art.
9x12 oil thanks for looking.

Very nice. I like the perspective on this. Living in Tucson you are almost obliged to do western art, huh? Glad to see you here.

Good diving. I like this point of view and the distance of the landscape portion.

Your work is very nice, Josh... The nice strong shadows speak of bright sunlight and the composition gives a sense of space. I'll be on the lookout for more of your work.

I like your painting Josh. You might consider adding a couple of cowboys.
Thanks for posting.

Nice painting! And (unfortunately), I'm old enough to remember watching "High Chapparell" on TV!!! So it looks familiar.

Josh, you did dive right in and with a wonderful subject too. I like the sense of space and your perspective is right on. I like that tall catus you painted in the mid ground of the piece. It is a benchmark for the perspective. I love the sense of lonliness too. The dust has settled for the day and the inhabitants are resting inside.

I like it without the cowboys - it has a nice "ghost town" feeling to it just like it is.

Yep, also remember High Chaparral, which means dense thicket of shrubs. Good job, Josh! Have been here to the Tucson studios and there are so many painting subjects to be had for the taking. You've captured the spirit and feel of the Old West frontier.
