Civil War soldiers

This is watercolor on canvas, it was part of a two hour painting challenge...I got this far, in two hours and a few minutes. I still can't believe it. :) I only used two colors, starting from a blank canvas. The photo we used was from a re-enactment. I haven't done many people in paintings so it was an extra challenge.

Then one rider was a big man, the other rider was a small man, so it was hard to make them look their respective sizes, without them looking strange on the canvas.

Very well done, especially for only 2 hours work. The riders do appear to be different sizes. This is a good example of what can be done with only 2 colors.

What size is the original?

I would like to see a bigger image, if possible.

I couldn't get a large image here, so I made a page and put the image on it. If you click the link, it will take you there. THe original is 9X12". I take back the two color thing, after I looked at the image, I saw where I'd also added some gold to highlight the horses and put insignia on the uniforms....
