Such a beautiful painting, as usual. His face reveals such character and spirituality. Your choice of colors just adds to the overall effect. Wonderful.

Wow Alicia. Seems like there is a story behind this man!
I am so thankful that I took your class and thrilled that you will be in NC teaching one in May near Asheville. I look forward to learning more at that one!

Yes, he looks a little different... maybe a softer version of the first one??? I like the elongated format very much.
03-06-2008, 07:59 PM
I like it more than the first one. Didn't think that was possible ? :)

Alicia, the other painting of this guy is one of my favorites on your website....I am constantly showing my friends that pic....Now I have another favorite to show....Way cool!!!

How many painting do you have for your show now?
Oh, and how long does it take you to paint one of these?

Love the way the light shines from the front on to the nose and the beard. The warm color of the face against the blues in the shadow part of the beard. It is always so exciting to see your paintings.
Wow, you are really great. Love it.

Ceci,William,Richard,Jim,Violet,Merriel:heart:  thanks for commenting i appreciate all the kind words!
Karen:heart: This one looks a little softer because it is half the size, and i tried not to put too much information and detail in it..
Mrking- i have about 8 new pieces so far for my show, which makes a total of about 25, and alot more unframed i would like to have 8 more pieces by April 5th...this painting took about 1 and a half to 2 hours...
Thanks again everyone:heart:

Alicia, framing costs must be high. Do you find that your clients prefer them framed? Do you ever sell without, maybe just matted?
03-07-2008, 09:57 AM
Hi Anne---the cost is high even though i get a price break..but i usually try to frame all of the premier work for my show( these are the paintings that are new and i consider "sellable") i also have a bargain bin for my show,,remember you saw it when you were here? they are painting just basically stuffed in a slanted stacker...people love going in there..like a socks
sale at Macy's or something!! This show i will have alot of pieces without frames and just matted and shrink wraped...

I look forward to hearing how the show goes!!!! Keep these gorgeous paintings coming!

I really love the way your style feels.
03-08-2008, 01:11 AM
I love how he melts into space. In this place but not of it.
03-08-2008, 05:09 AM
Wonderful, as usual, Alicia dear. Great tips about the "bargain bin", too.
03-08-2008, 11:48 AM
Alicia, I just drool at your work. This is so absolutely gorgeous!!
03-08-2008, 12:04 PM
:D Does anyone else think he looks like Pernell Roberts?
Nice painting, Alicia! Just looked at it several times and couldn't shake the resemblance... I think he's a very nice looking man--Pernell and your guy.
03-08-2008, 04:39 PM
Beautiful, as usual!
03-08-2008, 04:44 PM
Gorgeous portrait, soft and sensitive - you're good, girl! :)
03-08-2008, 05:03 PM
Alicia, I think I've just about used up all the superlatives I know to describe your work, and this pieces deserves another one.
03-08-2008, 06:39 PM
Deborah ..I'm surprised you didn't say he looks like Albert Handell, thats what you said about the first one i did of this guy !!
03-08-2008, 06:51 PM
LOL Gues he just has that kind of 'lookalike' face!! Maybe that's one of my problems with portraits. I always see someone or something else... It's me--just ignore me. I'm like the person who always sees things in the clouds, a boat, a duck, a car...
Sorry--didn't mean to be at all critical! Your work is incredible. :o
03-08-2008, 09:03 PM
Lovely portrait, you have a wonderful style!
03-08-2008, 10:27 PM
