This started out as the Jauary project over in the Still Life forum. Needless to say I never finished it for January. :D It is a reference photo from the WC RIL.

C&C Please. The bottle on the right has been the hardest as it is a green tinted bottle. Tough I have to say.

I'm hardly qualified to critique, 'cuz I flunked still life class:p but I think these look terrific so far. Bottles are hard; I do remember that!

This is coming along beautifully... I love your sparkling, lively bottles and can't wait to see the finished piece!
Not sure what to tell you about the green bottle, on my monitor it looks more of a turquoise shade and seems just fine :)

I love your bottles. I noticed how you work from the top down, getting in all or most of the detail as you go. I work the whole picture at once, and always have to go back and re-establish my lines. I'll have to try your way. Is the yellow-green in the green bottle the reflection of the grapes? I think as you finish the rest, it will all come together. Looks fantastic to me!

You are really skilled with these still lifes.. I think the green bottle is excellent.. it may have been the toughest, but I think you r nailing it. Very nice work!

I'm crosseyed.

I need some perspective here. Please comment on the LH bottle and grapes. It is about 90% complete. Missing some reflections still.

Okay....my two cents worth. I think the grapes and blue bottles, so far, are wonderful. The grapes are just luminous! But looking at the center lines of the blue bottles, compared to the center line of the green bottle, it appears, to me, that the green bottle is tilting to the right and/or forward a little too much. Just my opinion. Looks great so far.

I am so grateful for artists like you who share with the rest of us! To scroll down the screen and see how you developed this painting is so helpful. And my favorite things in the world are cobalt blue things, and you hit those right on the nail, and the green is great too...thanx 4 posting

Luminous is the right word for your grapes. Great shades of green. Aah... blue is allways a favorite.

Another stunner from you, Mike! Wonderful reflections on the glass (and cobalt is my favourite, too!), and the grapes are EDIBLE!!!

beautiful painting :) only thing I can see that might be taken into consideration is darkening the core of the grapes a tad to give it the illusion of translucency. But that is a minor detail as it is good the way it is.

Hi Michael,
Bravo! I find blue bottles so appealing.
It's very nice to see how you work, but it would drive me nuts -I guess that's why I paint landscapes

Thank you everyone. This site does my ego good. :D

The blue glass was the easiest, next to the grapes. It was that clear greenie glass that was the real challenge. Very happy with it in the end though.

Entered it into a juried show. Everyone cross their fingers. :D

Thank you to Cravia for the image!

Michael this is wonderful - I am just roving over it piece by piece to look at the detail and perfection in each part. Love the grapes.

So... Hey - is that a Mateus Wine Bottle that I see? Seems to me I recognize that from years and years ago!
