Well, I finally finished my butterfly quilt for my granddaughter. It is approx 45" square, made with polycotton fabric. It is the second baby quilt I've attempted in this style. The first was a dragonfly quilt I posted for another granddaughter. :D

The spots on the wings are seminole patchwork which were appliqued onto the butterfly and the butterfly was appliqued onto the background. I machine quilted in the ditch on the butterfly and border, and in a freehand swirly pattern for the background. (The small flowers on the background are the print on the material.)

The color is off somewhat because of my camera. It is actually pretty bright, without the amber cast.

Thanks for looking :D

My first quilt I posted was a dragonfly quilt under the name samben84

What a happy quilt, Sandy, and beautifully done, too!

I recognized your previous username from the Cafe word games.:D Addictive, aren't they? I love 'em, but they can eat up a tone of time.

Oh, my goodness! This is just wonderful!! I love the way the butterfly breaks out of the 'frame' a bit. What a treat for baby's eyes!

Cindy - Thank you. I agree about the games. I only play at work, so I have to be careful to just do it during break times.

Rose - Thank you. Believe it or not, getting the butterfly crooked was more difficult than it would have been to put it on straight. :D But, it was definitely a labor of love.

Here is my little sweetie. Her name is Madison and she is two months old:

Thanks Nermal,

I started with a butterfly I found in clip art and adjusted it to fit my space and colors.:D I also used a bit of license on the bottom wings. The original was about 2" wide and the finished piece is about 45" square.

Hey, artistic license is what it's all about, right? :) Sandy, Madison is adorable and I bet you're just over the moon!

This is just awesome. I can't sew worth a darn, so I am always amazed by quilts like this. Seriously I have trouble darning a sock, unless I knitted it myself...for some strange reason.

Anyway great work.
