I finished the "Snowy Owl in a snow storm"

Original thread:

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. The changes are for the most part subtle or minor tweaks. I added some more trees to give a bit more contrast for the owl. I also reduced the snow a little and darkened the house. I got rid of the back lean-to on the house to move it away from the edge and added a little more height (on the bottom). I also complete the owl.

I'm still not a 100% happy with it, but I'll leave on the wall for a few weeks. Who knows, I might tweak something else later, but its done...for now

How wonderful, I can hear the swoosh as he flies by!
A wonderful Canadian Prairie scene here, One of your best, I think!
The subject matter was almost impossible to interpret, and you did it!

Nice finish to this piece. Muted but still colorful. Good going.

I don't know how you did that, but you did it perfectly....so quiet and blustery. It's a beauty.

:thumbsup: I liked it before but really like it now! While your looking at it, how about some snow built up on the windowsills and part way up one side like the winds blown it in...

Thanks Kathleen. Yes it is almost an iconic prairie winter scene and yes it was tough. Next painting may have palm trees

Thanks Howard. I wanted to try a near mono-chromatic winter scene...what was I thinking :D

Thanks Lucie. I'm glad it looks blustery. I found that almost to the hardest part.

Thanks Dreamz. I had some snow on the sills but it drew the eye away from the owl. Besides, with the typical prairie wind it doesn't stick around much (makes for good excuse not to add it anyway :) ).

Thanks Soni.

I didn't care for the first one. This one is much better. It seems complete. The composition is good. I like it.

Very nice..still amazes me how just some subtle changes can make or break a painting. I can relate to the palm trees, it does leave one feeling a bit chilled, but in awe also....nature is so beautiful.
