View Full Version : Daffodil Song

Strongly influenced by portrait artist Ken Paine last night who was working in pastel! I have had so much fun painting and forming patterns with colour.

This wash over a large sheet of arches is the foundation for a finished piece.

The song and sense of rhythm is more important to me at this stage.A sens of a lofw throughout the whole composition and harmony but with a touch fo drama for the finish.

I paint almost as if in a trance in way such as a wonderful orchestra builds up to the climax of the beautiful ending.Strong or soft it closes with beauty.

I love these stages of painting as they feel so peaceful and harmonious.

Next I'll work on background and let the flowers appear as if by magic but I usually enjoy this stage for a week before moving on with up to twenty paintings on the go at any one time.

Thank you for looking.

Great start Jean, is this watercolor though or pastel?

Watercolour Darla.I love working in pastel too but for flowers I prefer my favourite medium.Transparent traditional watercolour.

I wonder what this would be like in pastel though. You have me thinking now!

Thank you!

JJ! Its lovely to see you!

Hi Marianne.I'm always happy but even more so when painting!

Hi again Lenore I saw you in the poppy thread!

Hi Darla,I've been in London with this painting on my mind all day.Its so frustrating when you can't stay in your studio and paint !!

Time to gett ow ork.

I may not be able to complete this too quickly as I'm working on about twenty pieces at the moment adding touches to each as my " song" takes me but I will be back!

It's my light piece in between Africa and Portraits on the go!

Wow Jean, this one takes my breath away. So ethereal, fragile, and delicate as flowers are. Fantastic work!

These look so delicate. If there was a breeze they would float in the sky. Great picture.
