Hi everyone, Newbie here, Ive been working on this piece over 2 weeks. I have no attemted fur/animals yet. This is how far I've come. I'm stuck on the bears. I don't know how to approach or proceed forward with the fur to get these guys looking a bit more like furry animals. I've just blocked in some color but really don't know which direction to head now with the bears. I will finish the snow and background. I would appreciate ALL advice on this piece. Thanks.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/17-Feb-2008/131221-DSC01587-small.JPGhttp://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/17-Feb-2008/131221-DSC01586-small.JPG

You're doing fine, the bears look furry to me. A lovely composition.

 HI! Namaste, Interesting use of color, you've given a good impression of their furri-ness in interesting ways especially on the cubs. This painting has visual appeal to it.

They're great! And they do look furry! If you want more indication of fur, do a little negative painting around the edges to show more detail. See the example below. The painting is bad and the scan is worse, but mainly I wanted to show you how we did the fur. just around the edges & a few shadow areas. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the praise. I just love these bears and felt I wasn't doing them justice. I will post this again once they are done. Thanks again.

Oh wow its hard to offer advise when you fall in love with a painting.I adore your choice of subject and the way you've approached it.The warm colours in the fur appeal to me as they work well in contrast.

Well done so far!

Jean.

It is wonderful - I would not change it. I especially like the color variation in the "white" fur. Maybe some shadows under their feet?

I love them. Excellent work. I think their fur looks like reflections of Northern Lights! :)

HI there and WELCOME to you! I think you don't need to paint fur as you've indicated it with the subtle color changes! This is really done very well. Anxious to see it completed. Your trees are great too!
