View Full Version : Very First of the Colorful Dog Series

I needed to find a way to make money for the rescue dogs. This is the first painting titled "Love, Love, Love" that I made in 2001. Hope you don't mind me posting "old" paintings. Thought you might be interested how these colorful dogs came about. This is 30 X 36 on stretch canvas.

Maybe if I moved to a ranch((Read BIG) as opposed to a one bedroom apt) I could get a mastiff?
They are wonderful dogs, and their facial expressions makes one just want to snoozle them!
Yep....The colours are bang on.
Keep up with posting the "Old" works....they have many admirers here.
I am giggling here

Hi Lucie, it is fine that you post older paintings, just as long as they are in acrylics.

It is always a pleasure to see an artist not be afraid of colour.

Cute and colourful. I bet children are drawn to this picture.

Oh, yes, Carol, all of these paintings are in acrylics. I gave up on oils, although I like them, but they take too long to dry.
MrsG So Cal- Funny you should say that. I almost didn't post him.
Kathleen - If everyone else enjoys looking at other artist's work as much as I do, then it's worth posting. Thanks for the kind words!
Lavenderfrost- Kids do like them, but I'm surprised at how many adults are drawn to them. (I'm still a kid at heart, I guess.)

So cute! I have a friend that breeds mastiffs,... I'm gonna show her this one... she'll love it!

Yes, please, more... I'd love to see them, and I see I'm not the only one. :)

Soni- Thank you. I have only a few more, then it's back to realism :crying: You have a Mastiff, too? A vet visit is always enough to do you in!
Kat- Thank you. I'll scan another one.
Now that you mention it, Bill, he does, doesn't he?
OK Susan, I'll try to make you smile
Thank you, Violet and David. Thanks for looking!

Ew, I love the way the color is handled in this one! This might be my favorite also.

hi lucie--terrific! you really caught the mastiff "vibe". i especially like the way you painted his muzzle--the way you used the colors catches that soft velvety quality. and you get the feeling that this is a big imposing dog physically, but that he (she) is really a big old marshmallow. and the aqua color defines his "stop" really well. chris

Just LOVE your work! and it's a delight to see how it all started.

Thank you, LuLu (that's the name of our boat ). I suppose I'll keep painting these till I can no longer hold a paint brush. Unfortunately the dogs will always need help.

Thanks so much, Chris. You described him perfectly. The well-bred, well-trained Mastiff is a big mush. Thanks for stopping by!
Get some more paintings of those Clumbers up. You still have a Clumber don't you?

hah like this one

 Colorful and cute! The first thing that came to mind was "Hot Rod" which is probably very contradictory to the dog's personality, hehehe. Such a fun painting; this style will make a wonderful series! :D

Thanks Blue Pencil and Elizabeth for taking the time for a peek and posting the nice comments.
