....munching some fruit, reading a good book and smelling the roses....
Don't get much better does it?
I like it very much!

Wonderful work and good title for it.

I like your composition [you're giving me ideas, haven't done a still life in ages ], love the colour scheme, and the way you carried it around the canvas[?]. Only suggestion for next time would be to add a few more folds to the linen for additional interest.

Hi Whitney and welcome to Wet Canvas. I think you have a nice still life composition. I think if I read it correctly, your light source is coming in from the left. This being the case, maybe the shadows from all the flowers would be falling on the cloth and book. The cloth as it falls off the table on my left, I would let fall straight down, it seems to be turning toward the right. I am really liking the glass effect you got on the vase, good job. Over all it is a nice painting. I have gotten a lot of help on these forums just by reading comments and viewing other peoples art. Keep having fun.........Lenore

This is nicely done.
This is not a criticism of your work, but ever since I tried to paint a cloth like that and failed, I am wondering why we set these still life up that way anyway. It is so unrealistic to have a cloth strung across a table like that. A good hostess would never allow a bunch of folds on a table cloth, she would always smooth it out. And it would never hang down the side of the wall.

excellent job. I would cut down the focus on the sheet though, by toning it down a bit, it's getting all the attention.

Nice work! Book pages, petals, shadows, and fruit especially.

You've gotten some wonderful suggestions, so the only thing I would add is the very right side of the book... a little shadow right underneath it would help ground the book a bit. The vase is very nice, and I love the fruit and the book! Keep at it!
