I couldn't sleep last night so I got up and did this small painting for practice (in the hopes I'd get sleepy, which I eventually did.;) )

It's acrylic on canvasboard, 5" x 7"

Looks like a wonderfully finished, loose painting... just lovely!

I find the title a little confusing, the sycamores here are somewhat different to yours, but the painting is excellent in many respects. I like the way you have handled your medium, especially in the trees and the left foreground. Those mountains have real depth also.
It might only be a 5x7 practice piece, but it still packs a pretty good punch.

I wish I could be as loose and painterly as you and come up with such a beautiful painting in such a short time!

Very good. That would have taken me much longer and not been nearly as good.

Thank you, everyone ...
Thomas, to explain, our California sycamores have a different look than those in the UK, where I think they are named Plane Trees

These happen to be growing near a palm oasis in the desert, hence the title "Sycamores and Sand ..."

This is what a California sycamore looks like:

Or in another painting of mine (sorry, this is oil, not an acrylic)!
