oh wow, what a feast for my eyes first thing in the morning! Beautiful! and I love the title!
Am interested in the blending of colours, would you mind explaining your technique? Do you use medium?

Bee~utiful work Audrey. Lovely pallete and great blending. I have painted the same ref a year or so ago and can see why you were drawn to it.

Thank you Howard, Lavender.
Lulu, I am starting to use a lot less medium and more water for my blending and glazes. I find, I am not liking the plastic coating that medium gives. Hard to put several layers of glaze over each other with medium.
Elane, High praise indeed from the master, or is that mistress?, of rose paintings. Not of mention you are the "blending queen"!!!

I like range of warm colors in this. I can see why you wanted to paint it. The detailing is just gorgeous. The background adds to the drama. I could just keep looking and looking!

You rock!!!! This is gorgeous!!! Such a treat for early in the AM. I needed to see color when all I see outside is White!!

What a beautiful painting!! Did you underpaint this or just go with the colors? It is so pretty and soft and I want to do one too lol

Thank you for all your nice comments, I am glad it makes people happy to look at it.
Tx, I always prime my canvas with gesso and burnt umber rather than going with strainght white canvas. I then lay the colors in the gesso as my white. Once I have it all covered I then switch to tit white and thin glazes with color.
Tony, I have already started my next but I'll see what I can do for a wip.

I've been trying to paint a flower that I found in the ref image library. I tried using medium for glazing & I didnt like how it was going, i'm going to try more water instead. i may have a flower as beautiful as yours! V.nice.

It is absolutely gorgeous, Audrey. Tempts you to lean in and sniff the scent. I have not done many flowers yet, it makes me want to start.
