View Full Version : Miro The Macaw- In Colored Pencil

02-05-2008, 12:38 PM
This is my latest Colored Pencil drawing- It is of my severe Macaw, Miro....

I think I am done, but I need to put it down for a while and then come back with 'fresh' eyes... I might still do a little tweaking here and there.

It is about 8" x 6" or so, Mostly Prismacolors with some Polychromos here and there. On Bristol Smooth.

The scan is OK, But looses a lot of detail... Here are a few closeups-

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result... We'll have to see if he likes it :)

Any C&C is Welcome!

That is so funny! I used to own a blue and gold macaw named Mac and he did what we called "dressing up". Your drawing reminds me of Mac. Very well done.

Terrific, Andrew! I can't believe this is done in colored pencils! I really love it, especially his expression. Wonderful job on that foot, the beak and eyes. Well, shucks, everything is great.

Laurie- Thanks! It is one of my personal favorites, too... When I look at it, I can say that is a severe- but not only that, it is MY severe- I feel like his personality is captured so well. Others that 'know' him say the same thing, too!

Thanks, FaeLynn! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Patrick- All I can ever hope to do is improve... I am glad you think I am doing so!

Thanks, Beverly... I am finding colored pencil to be an incredibly versatile, yet very portable, medium to work in... VERY helpful, Since I am on a ship and have limited room and resources!
