CAN YOU HELP ME ? AND DO YOU HAVE SOME OTHER SUGGESTIONS ?

I AM GOING TO ORDER THEM FROM FINEARTSTORE.COM BECAUSE I HAD ORDERED FROM THEM TWICE

My choice would be Terry Ludwig. I've had his portrait set for a while and just added his Sunset and Darks II sets to my palette. I love their vibrant colors and velvety softness.

Zara, either brand is great, both are soft, soft, soft, and you really can't go wrong either way. However, Schmincke is availalble all over Europe, which might be better for you considering your location.

I like Terry Ludwig's, but I would order the landscape set from

Great American Artworks- dick blick's has this set at 41% off list PLUS blicks is having a 15% off sale right now.... you can't beat that- and it is indeed my very favorite pastel on the planet- I really have tried them all.... plus blick's sponsors this web site- hint!!!

Hi Zahraa.

I think the reason you only have 4 replies is that most people don't paint portraits. I couldn't tell you the difference of the two portrait sets. I know I love my Terry Ludwig Dark set but that's not what you asked. Hopefully you will get some more portrait artists replying.

Good luck in your search.

buying pastels is a very personal choice--some tell you to get the great american's, but for me, they are too soft. i like art spectrum and giralt, but i'm sure another person maybe doesn't like them much or would tell you those are too hard or some other reason. its like food--i may say a certain resturant is just the best but maybe you wind up hating it cuz its mexican food which makes you have heartburn! very personal choice. are you heavy handed or have a light touch? and for colors, are you very traditional in your choice of color or do you go for some real 'zinger's in your choices? all so very personal, no one can tell you what set is best for you.

I like doing portraits and would like to help you, but I have not use neither one of those brands. The only portrait set I have is by Senellier and honestly, I haven't even dipped into it yet. But from what I heard about the brands you mentioned, they would be way too soft for my preference.
