Hey Everyone!

I like to take alot of panorama's.

This is one I took Tuesday. This is the sight outside of my window in Lancaster NY.

I know I did it WRONG, I didn't tripod and pan. I just stood and moved to the windows or else you would of seen the wall/windows. But is there a way to get rid of the banding?!?

If you have any tips and tricks to get rid of the dark banding.
I have a Canon XTi.

Hello Chris,

There are a few "rules" one must follow for getting a good pano from single frames. First and by far the most important is to use the same settings for each frame to be merged. That is if you use f 22 @ 1/125 shutter speed and a 50 mm lens on one then all must be shot at that. ISO must remain the same.

Allowing the camera to auto select the settings is what gave you that banding. The camera may auto select different settings even if you move the camera by a breath's worth of movement.

Third, if at all possable don't have different glass between you and the shot, step out in the snow, you'll get much greater results.

Forth, for a good merge you need 25% to 40% overlap of each frame.

Fifth, don't forget that CS can merge up and down as well as sideways should the scene call for it.

And you have already stated number two. Use a tripod. Even if you are moving from room to room, window to window, the tripod will help you keep the whole set of shots squared. Otherwise most likely you will have at least some zig-zaging thus making it harder for the software to correct and forcing you to crop the top and bottom off as you did on this shot.

Hope this helped some.

Make sure the images overlap well! Keep your camera settings the same for all images (don't leave it on auto!)
As for the banding, it will take a fair bit of work to reduce it.
