Finished this one today, took most of my afternoon finishing it up~gotta love those large blocks of time. Anyway, I'm liking the color play on the floor, that is what attracted me to paint this scene in the first place. C & C welcome. Just wanted to share. Oh, and just posted the sequence of steps on my blog...linkie below!

Wowser. This is gorgeous. That floor looks really slick:lol:

I visited your blog and thanks so kindly for the demo there. It is excellent. After you mentioned Ms. McMurry I picked up that book and am reading through it. Now to experiment!

This is so awesome, Brenda! I am amazed that you can do this from only a two-color underpainting. I compared the underpainting to the finished painting. Looks like you made the lights and medium tones orange and just the darks are blue. Is that correct? Thanks again for showing the steps on your blog.

Wow, Brenda, I love your interior work. My eyes just wander all over this luscious piece. The colors in the chairs and floor are wonderful. The hat rack draws my eye a little, just a small annoyance. Your shadows are fabulous, too.

Lovely! My favorite parts are the light playing on all of the high-gloss wood surfaces, like the sitting bar near the window, and the table tops.

Lovin this....wonderful painting, the floor is incredible, and the painting keeps me wandering around looking for new details. The hat rack draws my eyes a bit too, but a minor thing all in all. Brilliant piece!
Gonna visit your blog now, wanna see the steps!

I just love interiors, and this one is fabulous! So complex, with a wonderful treatment of every surface. I love it!

WOW! I didn't expect such incredible feedback! I am glad that the nits are coming in on this one, cuz I want to enter this into a juried show.
I'll push back that hat rack. I'm glad that it reads as a hat rack, cuz it's a wierd looking thing just standing there. Kindof looks like a helicopter thingy.... I'll probably paint it another color, but duller so that the sun is embracing it a bit. Any more crits on it are very welcomed! Thanks a ton! I'm smiling from ear to ear! :cat:

Nice complementary color scheme! Yep, that floor definitely got my attention - I love the interplay of the blues and purples. Then I look at the nice warm yellows on that round table which is then echoed by the windows.

Great solid drawing too!

This is terrific. The floor is definitely an eyecatcher, and I really like the composition of this painting.

Well done!

Wonderful painting! I don't think I'd ever tire of gazing on this. Great job!

I decided to add a few corrections to the piece after seeing it up on the computer screen. Also fixed the hat rack, but not so sure if it is too light now. I'm kinda thinking it needs to be a bit darker in value, but not as dark as it was. I placed some salt and pepper shakers on the ledge (I forgot to paint them in the first time) and added the neon sign too. Hope this makes it!

I like the changes you made, Brenda. The hat rack stays in the background where it belongs and the neon sign is a great addition. Maybe you could use the word "open" somewhere in the title?
