I've been working on landscape paintings lately, but thought I'd share a child's portrait that I completed last year with you. It's the image I'm using for my avatar on this forum. This painting was published in the book, Richeson 75: Figure/Portrait International 2007 by Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. I enjoyed combining a figure with a landscape, my two favorite subjects to paint.

Nicely done, Patrice.
It's a thoughtful composition, and an appealing picture of the girl as well.
Congratulations on your publication, also.

Very nicely done - I like how the girl and sunflower stand out against the dark trees in the background.

I didnt know it was possible to put in so much detail with oil paints. How do you do that? It is amazing.

Thanks, Holly. Bouguereau inspired my composition, he did many females outdoors with the dark foliage as a backdrop.
Thanks, Kim. I used a very fine weave linen mounted to gatorfoam and small brushes to get the detail.
