Scott,

Sometimes, especially during non-scheduled times, one of us will go to the chat room and hang out, waiting for someone else to show up. But we don't just sit and stare at the digichat screen, so sometimes I come in and can't get the person waiting to know I'm here, and vice versa.

Sometimes, while talking, if the conversation is slow temporarily, I'll wander somewhere to do something else. If the sound of a message came in, I could go back to it.

If we had sound, we'd know when someone was leaving a message in either case.

Can you enable the sound feature for digichat?

Randy - the system does support sound. Here is the long, and somewhat technical answer:

Basically, Windows 95/98/NT users running versions of Java prior to 1.2 (including all current versions of Microsoft Java, Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator) will not be able to hear sound, due to a bug in these earlier Java releases that caused Windows to crash after repeated playing of sound. Therefore, we have disabled sound for Windows users not running JRE 1.2 or later. You must upgrade to Sun's JRE 1.2 to hear sound on Windows. Because current browsers such as Netscape Navigator/Communicator and Internet Explorer do not use Sun's JRE, sound will not be available to Windows users of the DigiChat Client applet until these companies update their browser software.

Cheers.
Scott

That figures! Okay, nix that idea.

Then how about turning on the logging feature and giving us access to the logs, at least for a few days after the chat?

I don't know if that's really useful... I just wanted to get *something!* http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I just had a thought... what if some chatters don't want all their chatting recorded? Maybe I'm speaking out of turn...

Good point. What if we opened up just the "Cafe Guerbois" for logging, and not the other rooms? In other words, if you need to speak in private, you'd just hop to another room?

Randy and Scott: It sure would have been helpful a couble of nights ago when we really got into some great tips on painting. I know I would have liked to have had the capibility to get a copy. I don't think anyone would mind. Sometimes we get a little silly, but the biggest majority of the time we chat paint. This is one of the things that I have enjoyed about this group chat. We all have so much to share and it is great fun to get input for all over the world.

Scott: Also, one more request. I love the clock at the beginning of the Chat Room, but it tells only local time. If you are in New Zeland, it tells NZ time. If you are in Texas, it tells Texas time. What we really need is it to always tell ET time, no matter where you are located. That way when a chatter from NZ (Rod) logs on, he can tell what time it is in the chat room. Still wish we had a block on the front page that told how many chatters were in the chat room. That way it would entice others to join, and chats would occur at all times of the day and night. We are so global until it is hard to pick a universal time to chat. Thanks for all you do. I know you have had this on your long list, but just wanted to say we still want it. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
