This piece is nearing completion. It is of vintage handkerchiefs. Any help is greatly appreciated to help me tweak this watercolor, 8"x10" on arches. This is my last small piece for a while. Thanks!!!!

Yikes! What a great idea for a painting. So original! (Wish I'd thought of it. ) And, it must have been so much fun to do. I can just see opening up a future "Watercolor Magic" or some such magazine and seeing this there. Its terrific!!!!!

I love it!

This is really beautiful. You have captured the silkiness and texture so well.

Neat!!! I think for your final tweaking maybe forget that it's a painting of hankies and just think warm/cool and value change.

Darlene, thank-you!
Amelia I do believe that you're right, I have always had problems with cool and warm colors so I will work on that. The subtleties in color are not that obvious in the photo as most of the cloth is white of off white. I never pick easy subjects, yes I know thats a good thing, but I would like for once to do something perfect...back to the watercolor board,LOL!

This is really an outstanding idea for a painting! It really takes on an abstract quality with the different colors and the gravity of the material! You have painted it very well.......my only nit is I would have liked to see it painted a lot bigger....!

Thank-you Atlee! I know it should have been larger. I started this before the holidays but had to put it on hold. My New Years resolution is to work 16"x20" this year in both watercolor and acrylics. I love that size and also think it's a great presentation of work when all the pieces are the same size. I recently went to a 2 man show and 1 painter had all different size watercolors and other had all oils the same size, the later body of work was very pleasing!

I second everybody else. Very cool subject matter!

I love this idea! I'm sure all the fabric addicts (including me) would love to have this hanging in their sewing rooms.

Wonderful, and a great title.

I've moved this work in progress to the Studio BTW.

Hi Jackie,
Clever title draws me in every time. :D

This is such an original idea for a painting and it is coming along so well. Is this your collection of hankies? I remember my Mom had some fancy ones to put in the breast pocket of her dress or suit jacket and show off the lace around the edges.

Great advice from Amelia about finishing this off.

Here is the finished work, not completely to my satisfaction, but the love affair is over.

This turned out great! I like the way you've matted and framed it too, it fits the subject very well.

"…the love affair is over." Put it away for a little bit and you'll fall in love with it again. You did a terrific job painting it.
