I'll be starting my 2008 Knitting Calendar this coming weekend which got me to wondering do any of you "Plan Ahead" with your knitting and crocheting?
I just started doing this last year...still haven't finished all of what I had planned of course...but by doing this it keeps me somewhat focused (if you can call it that:lol: )
In my mind I can tick off about six projects...baby's jacket, 2 pr. socks, Ladies hooded sweater, ladies jacket, two men's sweaters and a few scarves, ok, that's more than six, that I'll be starting in the New Year already...not to mention the St.Patty's Swap. One of those is a jacket I've just finished swatching from some yummy Sirdar Double Crepe wool yarn in Blueberry colorway that our very own Mod, Rose Queen (Diana), so graciously sent me. I think it's going to turn out beautifully and I've been wanting to make this one for some time anyway. It just so happened that Tommy gifted the pattern book to me for Christmas! This is it with a wee bit of the swatch which is done in Moss Stitch!

So, how about you all? What's on the needles (hooks) for 2008?

Ooooh, can't wait to see that finished, Pam -- love those pierced gussets! And to think, that yarn only had to wait about 28 years to see the light of day...

This is from someone's blog, but they show a close up of the gusset...I love that part the best too...although a really great thing about it is, it is a very tidy and flattering sweater for most body shapes.
The yarn is just gorgeous and a dream to knit with...very smooth knitting and it allows the stitches to be well defined. Thanks again so very much!

I have been thinking of doing a "Project Calendar" for my knitting. As I get ideas I can schedule them throughout the year and have all finished, hopefully, well before Christmas.
I usually wait until the cold weather sets in or we go onto standard time again and the evenings are tooooo long. That doesn't give me time enough to do all the things I want so I end up just doing scarves or something small.
I already have plans to do a cape for myself and a sweater for my eldest daughter and a coulple of vests for GD's and a hooded sweatshirt for my youngest GD and GS. I'm sure there will be more that I will add.
I would also like to do some socks this year. Not the kind to wear with shoes, but more for around the house. I love some of the sock yarns I've been seeing on the internet.
Lots of inspiration here on this forum.

I knit a lot for charities, nearly always have beanies on the needles, need to get some baby wool to knit for the local hospital preemie unit and I am knitting a pair of socks for me.

OHHHHHH Pam:clap:   , what a beautifully classical pattern, and the gussets are the highlight. This is something you can wear for decades and still be in fashion.
I love the idea of a project calendar.
Opps...I am heading out to clean the garage with my DH.
Dana:eek:
Pamela, I can't wait to see that one finished. That is a beautiful pattern!
The biggest thing I'm going to do with yarn in the next month is a tea cozy. I can't schedule my projects because I'm just too scattered. One day I feel like crocheting the next doing a watercolor. I wish I had the dedication to do it the way you do.

Dana...it was those gorgeous gussets that got me hooked on that pattern over two years ago...I have to make it!!!:)
Sher, wish I had enough hours in the day to stay as dedicated to knitting as I want to be...but all that other stuff like housework and cooking and the other job kind of intrude on my knitting time...that's why I'm still knitting a pair of socks for my BIL right now at 2:30 AM!!! I also get the urge to paint every now and then...and one of these days I'm going to get back into some watercolor painting again, just for the fun of it.:D

Gorgeous pattern Pamela! What book is this in? If it comes in larger sizes, I may want to try one of those for myself! Love the braided bands on it.
Have to add another to Diana's great list of quotes!

Oh, please don't encourage me! My list of favorite quotes runs to many pages as it is!

Please don't encourage my baaaad habits. I would much rather have fiber in my hands than a feather duster, or broom, or any other torture device.

Yes, the pattern has sizes from S to 1X... The 1X finished size is 50 1/2" buttoned, so it's pretty roomy!

It looks beautiful! I may have missed it, but did you already say what color you'll be doing it in? Can't wait to see it!

There's a small swatch Pam knitted on the lower right corner of the page showing the pattern.

The photo is a bit dark so it's hard to see the color of the yarn I am using but it is called Blueberry and it's really a gorgeous blue-a bit on the purple side but greyed down some...almost a blue heather really. I'll be sure to post a better pic of the swatch when I get started on it!

OMG, I should be so lucky to have a calendar just for knitting! I will be happy if I can sandwich one nice knitting project in between all the other stuff I have on my plate for 2008! I have a good project in mind, though, and can't wait to try it.:)

I've tried off and on to keep a calendar of either my artwork/painting/drawing and events and exhibits I wanted to see or enter and now, I try to do the same for my knitting...although my knitting calendar is a lot busier than the former ever was!!! LOL I've got quite a bit already scheduled so now I have moved my 2008 Holiday knitting to begin in September! With several sweaters and jackets to be put on the needles, it's going to take the whole of Summer just to finish those and the few other small projects I know will pop up. One whole month is already devoted to working on my Master Knitter program.

Thought you might appreciate this Pam. Found this knit supply shop at the Grove Arcade in Asheville today when I was out taking photo's for this weeks Weekend Drawing Event (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467331)
They were a tad pricey but had some great yarns. ( attached below.) I'm sure I'll go there again once I start my knitting class.

Oooooooooooooooooo Li, aren't those gorgeous!!! I have so much fun when I go to the LYS's but oh my! Such a hard time getting away without spending way more than I should....I want it all!! Those are some fabulous yarns to be sure and you'll have a great time choosing! You're fortunate to live in such an "artsy" town...and Asheville is one of my favorite "artsy towns"!
