Happy Sunday everyone!!! Sorry to be mia again - sounds like I'm not the only one getting frantic at this time of year!!! Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Can't find my camera cord again - I'm going to have to buy my son his own camera at this rate. Too bad he's already getting a computer for Xmas or I'd have a camera under the tree so fast! LOL! My two middle kids (Mark & Kevin - Freya's Dad and Studio son for those keeping track! LOL!) and their girlfriends bought me a new recliner for Xmas! And I got it early as they had no where to store it!!! I'm so happy!!! My old recliner died a painful death a week or so ago and I haven't had anywhere to kick back and relax since! I can't wait to show Freya on Monday when she's back from her mom's. We used to snuggle in the comfy chair (the old recliner) every day, and we both have been missing it!! My kitties are much happier too - although four cats and a dog make it very difficult to type! LOL!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend, I'm off to catch up on the WIA's I've missed! Hugs all around!!!

Hi everyone,
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/16-Dec-2007/45865-Arch.JPG
A picture from the coast of Tasmania from our recent hols.
Barrie, I hope the death of the old recliner wasn't painful for you ! I think I recall an episode of the Simpsons where Homer was stuck in one. How nice that you got a new one though, I can just picture a queue of critters waiting to get in there.
Andee, good luck for the possible new job with the former boss. It could be a good opportunity, even though the commute is a bit of a pain, I'm sure after a while you would get used to it. Like someone else said would there be any chance to go by public transport and have it as a bit of veg out time ?
Gwen, next time you see Capt Jack you have to snag a picture for us LOL. You are going to have to start carrying you camera at all times like the papparazi. Not sure I would like having hunters in such close proximity, I might be tempted to do something naughty like paint a target on their tent, or fit all the deer with orange jackets and people masks.
Pam, the mall does not sound like fun. Here they have already started the year end sales  I think they do it in hopes that visitors from cold places will buy up the Autumn/ Winter stuff. There isn't much local demand, only if people are going to be travelling, and even then they probably are not going to buy much.
Rita, welcome. Tell your Dad not to worry about the TV remote. I was chatting to the girls at the studio one evening and got a call from DH because he had managed to press the wrong thing and everything disappeared. He couldn't get it back, and didn't want to wait 3 hrs till I got home ! Luckily I knew how to fix it because the same thing had happened to me, it took me ages to figure out though ( which was why he knew it had happened, I grumbled about it wasting my time ).
Maggie, have fun with the family, sorry to hear about flight delays, seems to be normal this time of year though.
Claire, well done for having all the Christmas stuff under control.
Shirley, so sorry to hear about your Mom, it's good that you can be there for her though. Fingers crossed that the new floor will work out, I shall remember your tip about what not to get !
Nothing exciting happening here. Have had a weekend of doing catching up type jobs. Filing, ironing, putting away, tidying up. All things that have to be done, but don't feel vey worthwhile. Have a good one everyone, Fiona

PS, did get one bit of good news. The big studio I go to has enough people to carry on with the evening sessions. Our main night will be Tuesdays, but with "old people" like me the tutor lets us turn up even if he has a "new babies" class ! I shall have to start planning some projects for January. Fiona

Barrie, Hurray for the new recliner, something to be shared with Freya. Sounds wonderful, a place of new memories.
Fiona, Sorry I never welcomed you back! It's that time of too much rushing also. What a beautiful picture. Hope the studio news means we see more beauties from you.
Andee, Have you come to any conclusions about the job offer. Seems like there could be a silver lining there despite the travel time. If job security is there, that's a huge plus.
Just getting myself up and not ready to get going yet. A cup of tea is in my near future.

Good morning!
Almost time to get ready for work. I had a horrible headache yesterday all day which is gone today but still feeling the remnants of this cold I have.
Barrie - congrats on your new recliner!
Fiona - that picture is SO pretty! Glad you had a good time and are settling back in. Yay for the jewelry making sessions!
Andee - aww sorry you're feeling bad today. I love your new photo store!
Maggie - sounds like you are having a wonderful relaxing weekend with your family. Yay for having one more day before you have to go back.
Pam - how are you doing this weekend? Has your oomph come back? Mine sure has not but life goes on eh? My boys only have 4 more days of school this year.
 Charissa, Gwen, Rita, Claire and everyone else who pops by!

Hi there and hello to you all. I am starting my day out late. Have to be at work in about 45 minutes. Being out late (10 pm) makes me tired the next day. I usually stay up later than that, but in my own space. There seems to be something about going out that does me in.
Fiona, thanks for the story about the remote. I am sure my dad will feel much better.
Barrie, lucky you on the new recliner!! My cat always sleeps on my legs or between them on my footstool. I can hardly imagine what fun he would have in a recliner.
Off to work!! Lucky me :(

Barrie, your household sounds like a zoo...lol Congrats on the new recliner. I bought mine nearly 3 years ago when my old one bit the dust.
Fiona, I have a day of cleaning ahead of me too. Yesterday I did get a big box and a large garbage back filled with things for our local charity. That is a great shot! Great news about the studio too.
:wave:Andee
Maggie, a cuppa sounds wonderful. I think I will fix myself one too.
Dawn, I hope that you get over that cold soon.
We got more snow last night. We have had snow on the ground for nearly 2 weeks now. It has been so cold it doesn't have time to melt.

Hi again between photo shooting and editing (198 photos, ugh). My appartment is still a mess, I haven't done anything than working business this weekend. Not how I imagined things...
Shirley - argh about the ongoing-floor-saga, I would probably start to scream if it was my floor. Hope everything will be done soon and without more delays. Sorry to hear about your mum, I can't really imagine how difficult this is for you, let alone your mum. Hugs to you both! Yes, I can get there by PT - walking, tram, train, bus, walking. It wouldn't be so bad if I could just get into the train and be there without having to change. Yay for opening your Etsy store!
Gwen - good luck with the store! LOL, as if I wasn't doing the pro/contra thing here. Besides - what choice do I have? I HATE being a temp, I HATE that I only receive about a third of what companies pay for me (and I'm talking pre-tax here) and the temp agency forks in the rest, I HATE that they can basically send me anywhere and to any job they want. Yay that you're done with the presents. I haven't even started on the one for my mum - not that I know what to make...
Maggie - something pink will be coming in the next couple of days, but no collage. I would need to comply re-do them, and the print size would be a bit too small for them to really look good. Yep, I've sent my old boss my application-things, now I'll have to wait...
Pam - that sounds like the hell of a day, hope today is a better one for you! Can you treat yourself to something nice? Pedicure? Long bubblebath? A lone walk at the beach?
Rita - it sounds like living with your Dad and caring for him is helping both of you. I hope you will still have a long good time together.
Barrie - hm, it sounds like you don't need to buy a new camera, just a 2nd camera cord! ;) Yay for the new recliner, even tho it tends to get crowded.
Fiona - that's great news, yay! Love the photo, what a wonderful blue!
Dawn - unfair, isn't it, to be rid of the headache but having to work. Hope you'll get over that cold soon!
Charissa -

hi again everyone :)
Andee, I keep checking your photo store to see what you've added new... it's so exciting! Yes, a pedicure sounds amazing, I could really use one. I don't know if they are open on Sundays though... and it's cold for a walk on the beach and LOL about the bubble bath... I'd have to go to a hotel for that!
Fiona, that's great news for you! I hope you have better luck this time with all your metal work. Beautiful place in that photo... lucky you to be able to go there!
Barrie, yay for early christmas gifts! Bummer about the lost camera again though.
Hi Charissa, my house is a mess too.
Hi Dawn, no, no umph to be found, just trying to power through before the season is completely lost and a total disaster. Have a good day at work :)
Claire, I hope you had a nice quiet night in - did you get some decorating done?
 to everyone else
Today I need to figure out how to get some studio time in... I've got a couple of gifts that need to be made so they can go in the mail tomorrow, and then I've got to figure out two teacher gifts to make - or I don't know, do I need more since he's also got an art teacher, a computer teacher a music teacher a pe teacher, a spanish teacher and also sometimes mixes in with the other 1st grade class for social studies? Do I need 10 teacher gifts????? Maggie, help???

Dawn, Sorry you have to go in today after a headache all day. Hope all will be quiet, not the usual busy place this time of year.
Rita, I'm with you. If I stay out kind of late, it takes me a long time to unwind before I can go to sleep and I am tired the next day. Have fun at work.
Charissa, I'm on my second cuppa now. Snow sounds like a pretty background. None here ever. Well, it has snowed twice in San Jose during my lifetime.
Andee, I'll keep my eyes open for pink. Hope things work out for the best job wise. Your apartment may be a mess, but your Etsy looks wonderful.
Pam, Hope all is well with you and you are finding relaxing moments.
It's been quite a year for all of us, hasn't it.
My brother and sister in law just went to the cabin and it was tempting to go with them, but the kids are coming over soon and would be disappointed if I was gone. I am planning on going one day when I am here for Christmas, to look at it from the viewpoint of where would all my stuff go and to see just how cold it is.

Pam, We were typing at the same time. I mainly get presents from my homeroom students, even though there are some students I physically have in my room more periods than their homeroom teacher. It doesn't bother me at all if they give her something and not me. Some students bring presents for a couple of teachers, but I think it you stick to the homeroom teacher you are fine. If Luke has a favorite teacher, get her/him something also. Believe me, we get so many presents for so many years no one will feel slighted. Does that help or are my thoughts too jumbled?

Thanks Maggie, if I ask Luke he will say all of them. So I'll just stick to his main teacher and the assistant who is there every day, half a day. Maybe I'll do more next year for the others as they will be with him for the next 8 years anyway? I'll start earlier next year. Hah. Yes, I hope next year is a much easier year for all of us. Enjoy your family, I can't wait for you to move into your cabin :)

Hi everyone,
It's been a lovely sunny day if rather cold. My blackbirds are hungry, they keep begging for sultanas, one of them flutters on the windowsill to attract my attention. I've ben making florentines, took a pic for the holiday food theme but haven't uploaded it yet. And I got the basis of my ceiling decoration done, it just needs the fancy stuff adding and the electrics doing. I wire it into the ceiling rose which saves having cables running everywhere, it does mean I can't use a transformer but I have an old string of lights which do the job without one. The cards are still unwritten, but at least they are here. Yet another rehearsal tonight, we ran act 1 for the first time, always depressing because nobody remembers any of it. I got chatting to some of the girls and it looks like I'll be giving them a singing lesson on Tuesday, kind of embarrassing because I'm not a great singer and one of them has a much better voice than I do! I'm telling myself that teaching is about guidance, showing where they can improve, after all if pupils never got better than their teachers there'd be no progress.
Andee, I think you are doing the right thing, it is too good an opportunity to miss, to work at something you enjoy with people you like, it must be better than how things are at the moment. 198 photos, I should think you've gone cross-eyed!
Shirley, that floor has been such a nightmare that I think you are right to start again, fingers crossed it will be done for Christmas. How sad about your mother, dementia is such a trial, it is hard to watch them struggling.
Rita, I'm dreading my parents needing help, at the moment my mother is fine although my father is in a wheelchair. No way could I live with her I'm afraid. It is great that you are so happy to have your Dad with you.
Gwen, we get the market maybe three times a year, it is fun but nothing like as good as the ones we visit on holiday. The saucisson is a dry sausage, like a hard salami, which they make with various meats. We roasted the chestnuts in the oven, not as seasonal as the fire but easier to control. Also the dog gets scared when they pop! Good to hear your stag is safe.
Maggie, so glad your nieces loved their gifts. Won't it be fun imagining how you will be living in the cabin? Maybe you need a wood burning stove, plenty of wood around the place.
Pam, it's hard to control what kids do as they get older but it seems some parents just don't care. I'm slightly reassured on the car front as two other people told me tonight they had just had punctures too, I don't feel fate is pointing the finger at me in particular. I hope you get everything made OK, if you don't have time to make gifts can you use up orphan beads to make special cards?
Barrie, yay for the new recliner, I can just imagine you, Freya and the menagerie heaped on it together.
Fiona, gorgeous pic, reminds me of the south west coat of Ireland (but sunnier). Sounds like the mundane elements of life have hit you after your break, must be time to plan the next one. Great news on the studio.
Dawn, are you starting to feel better? I hope you get a bit of time to catch up before the holidays start.
Charissa, I don't envy you the snow, pretty though it is. Have you decided what you'll say at your brother's memorial?

Pam, I can feel for you with the teacher thing. My granddaughter Cassie is only 3-1/2 but she is in Early Intervention because of her disability so she has not only a teacher, but a physical therapy aide, an occupational therapy aide, a speech therapist and a teacher's aide in her classroom. There are only 4-5 kids in her class. She goes 3 days a week. Their Christmas party is this week. I can't decide whether she needs a gift for just her main teacher, or if I gift the teacher's aide, too, if the therapists will get their noses out of joint. The teacher's aide is someone I have known for many years and she is especially kind to Cassie. I go with my daughter to her classroom sometimes and see what they are doing or visit with the therapists about how I see the progress Cassie is making.
My daughter also wants me to make earrings for hte girls who run her favorite coffee shop. Guess who will be back to making earrings tomorrow. Ha-ha. :~)
