It should be very easy to locate a site on drawing cartoons. I think just type in "How to draw cartoons" should get you into alot of sites.

Also, just practice drawing. Get a book at the local library on drawing is a good start.

Don't think you have to be a great artist to be a cartoonist. You have to be funny or witty to be a cartoonist.

You need look no further than the teachings of Andrew Loomis (http://www.placidchaos.com/AM/index.php?title=andrew_loomis&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1) on the subject...his Fun with a pencil will do that for you! And it's free to download. Enjoy!
You do also need a wacky sense of humour....but I'm guessing you have the ideas but have yet to develop the techniques....?:D

I agree with Dierdre. Also http://www.animationarchive.org/index.html is a great resource if you will dig into past posts, especially the "$100,000 drawing course" and also search through some of the links...it's really the best online reference and learning center for cartoons and animation I know of...

I have "Fun with Pencils" as well--it's very useful. You can also check into a website

http://www.about.com

they have a very well developed section on cartooning.

I think that most of the really good drawing books are based in Andrew Loomis's teachings...and they have been utilised by so many of the really good artists at one stage or another in their progress...he should be a national hero in my view!:D

Deirdre - I agree! Andrew Loomis' books have helped me so much that I recommend them to Graphic Artists as well as Fine Artists - his guidance applies to all - the basic foundation for learning to solve any visual problems that may arise when creating art.

Hi,
I just wanted to offer my help if you're interested? I'm a published cartoonist and if you have any questions I'd be glad to answer them the best I know how. I know i'm not an on line acredited school but I've been drawing cartoons and alike for the past 30 some odd years. I'll post a cartoon sketch over in the other thread I started here called "Shrea the jungel princess, post."
