I've been asked to start a new STINKERS HALL OF FAME for 2007 as the other is getting a bit unwieldy ( even thought it still makes me laugh like a five year old.) Here is the Original Stinkers Hall Of Fame ( http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=355349)

My idea at starting the first one was this: We get a lot of newcomers to Wetcanvas and the WDE's ( Weekend Drawing Events) every week. Many are drawing or painting for the first time. They wander in, check out some of the best art and artists on WC in our weekly get-togethers and then go running in the other directions. I actually did about a half- dozen of these events BEFORE I had the nerve to post way back when.

All of the expert painters in our forum ( and around the world) know there is a portrait of Dorian Grey hidden somewhere in their closets. Even the best artists in the world still.... occasionally:rolleyes: ... have their creature from the black lagoon days. That great idea that turned into a hideous toxic beast smoldering and oozing festering goo on your easel. P-U! Open a window and get thee off to Ugly-land!

The greatest part of this forum is that it is the most supportive and safest place to try new mediums, make our "mistakes" and learn and grow. I thought it would be funny if we all ( esp. those who have been around long enough to have had some real stinkers) show our most hideous WDE so the beginners understand that we ALL have bad days.

It is oddly cathartic to show the world the uglies, like shaking off a bad dream! As your hostess for this horror show, it's my pleasure to start us off once again.
To keep the thread from getting too long too fast, please keep your responses in one post and no quote button unless absolutely needed. Thanks!

Put on your face masks!

Li

I didn't even post the week I did this to poor Yorky. I just couldn't seem to make it work. It was supposed to be a lovely ink wash and for some reason I just froze at the thought of filling it in! And that was this year! So there he floats in mid air for eternity.

And then there was gemgold's unfortunate bear with the dog muzzle.

And lets not forget my dirty frogs that never made it into my thread.
Eaxactly what color was I going for and who gave them the alcohol???

NOW LET'S SEE YOURS!!!! AND MAKE THEM BAD TO THE BONE!

Li,

Your frogs just crack me up! You might not like them, but they have such a satisfied air about them. I really like the way they are drawn, especially the mouths and eyes.

The only thing that would personify them a bit more would be having the gentleman (liberal use of the term) frog actually be asleep. :D

Rick.

p.s. I refrained from suggesting a cigarette, because it just reminds me too much of the poker playing dogs concept. ;)

Li - Yorky looks fine to me. Some more colors on the ground and it will make for a good sketchbook entry.

Hi tarpalsfan

Have you been posting in the Fantasy/ sci-fi forum? You should. Mostly this thread is for your worst Weekend Drawing Event effort.

Angie, when I look at your piece I think... pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

Li, I think Yorky just needs feet, as the stool needs legs. Then he'll be fine.

As for the frogs, I L O V E them! So indolently content with their love life, and such beautiful bedroom eyes.

The bear, yes... see what you mean. But I thought he was Eeyore, trying out a different suit.

Angie, yours is quite intriguing. Holds my interest and curiosity. You could start a story with that one -- The Day the Rainbow Fell into Angie's Garden. All it needs is a different frame from the WDE.

Okay, Li. I'm doing this just for you, so you won't feel so lonesome. It is of our dear sweet Valri, who doesn't deserve this kind of treatment AT ALL. Valri - you are a gorgeous woman. This person I have drawn is DEFINITELY not YOU!!!!

Pencil on matboard - 11x14 - I gave up at 2 hours...

This week's effort- showing a distinct lack of practice in the drawing field - I'm ashamed of it (drawing and the lack of practice!) ....... so, here's my first stinker for this new thread :D

Hi All! This is my first post in this thread(and probably won't be my last! :)). It's a late rendering of the lighthouse from July 27 WDE. It's in WC on 5x7 greeting card made for WC. I have never done rocks before(can't you tell?!!!) and found it a challenge. I am also now used to doing much larger WC paintings - 8x10 and higher, so the smaller size was not quite so comfortable for me. It's been a good experience for me to do this. I now just MIGHT be brave enough to post a WDE on their thread!!!
PS, I have enjoyed some of the "Stinkers" posted here! They don't look so bad to me!!

I have to admit, we did laugh a lot throughout the thread. My poor deranged cat was only my second post to the WDE's. And boy was he angry!!

My worst one yet...a sheer act of mindless vandalism really...I got distracted by the paintbrush demon....it was supposed to be painting the straight lines of the ship...and instead it got an evil wiggle on!

Here's some fish swimming in your toxic river ( from Al's wde) and a deer that begged a hunter to put her out of her misery! Can't remember the host. I'm sure whoever it was will NOT be claiming it!!! ( Geez- pick a color Li!)

Angie- not that bad but not your usual colors either.

Beth- that has "mad scientist clones kitty" written all over it!:p

Eric- nice start really, I think you just gave up at the uggy stage. It's really kind of fresh.

You are kidding right Angie? I've had more paint overs than keepers this year. Here's some flowers for your cow skull's grave. ( Nothing wrong with that skull btw!) Tulips that looked like little alien footballs.:p
