Okay, today four good things happened.

First, New York State Plein Air got another founder, bringing the total to four now, in the person of our plein air forum friend, Gavin. His painting image is on the founder's page: http://NYSPleinAirPainters.homestead.com/PleinAir.html

Second, I completed an 8" x 10" plein air painting of northport Harbor in one, two hour session, a first for me.

Thirdly, I discovered the perfect solution of brush vs. knife. I use the knives to mix the paint and smush it into a pile. Then I used the brushes to pick up the blob of paint on the tip of the brush. Outcome: a textured thick application with an evident brushstroke. Problem solved.

..........and finally, I powerwalked for an hour pushing my one year old grandson in his stroller and sunhat. Exercise and babytime. Now, that's Fun!

This is really really nice .. I think you have found your self in this one. Congratulations. I'm going to kidnap my granddaughter this weekend for a day or two so it won't be a painting weekend but it will be a fun one.

Carly and Wayne, Thank you!

It made me feel really good to be able to pull it off in one session. Those long day-trips out east will be doable now, instead of needing a second day/session to finish.

Wayne, My acupuncturist friend says that a baby gives off pure "Chi"-energy, and that is why people love to be around them. :)

Good job Renee, glad you are locating some founders and the painting is coming along nicely. Glad you have found you own way to combine the knife & brush to achieve the result you were looking for.
Looks like it's grandparents time this summer as I have my two grandsons with me for a few days. Definite energy at 5 & 7!!

Thanks, Cathleen,

An artist friend suggested I may have overlooked an actual focal point in this painting. I believe she was correct.
So, today I finished up the weeping willow ( 91 degrees and brutal) and added two adirondack chairs. Now it has a focal point.

Nice finish!!! And I love the way the warm colors in this make the water look so cool and refreshing.
