This is another one I just photographed. :D I TOLD YOU that I had a stack of them in my studio. Let's see if the image is big enough to see on this one. :o It was done at the Orlando Wetlands Park in Christmas, Florida. Beautiful place to paint. It's 16 x 20 - Oil on Canvas.

Another beauty. Do any of you know of Robert Butler? He paints mainly Florida scenes too...similar to what you Florida plein air painters do, but sometimes with a bit of fantasy flavor. Check his stuff out, I think you'll like it:

Thank you for your comments Linda and Cherie. :D Domer, thanks for the link, I looked up the Butler site. Interesting, not too into the fantacy thing though. I much prefer plein air work for its honesty. ;)

.. No intention on starting a debate, but that's debatable as there are many artist and not all artist share in that approach even when painting Plein Air.

However, back to reality, I really like your piece here and actually, there as well as I like everything you post for the simple reason that it is very well done and I can see that it is an honest approach to depicting nature as you see it.

Thanks Wayne. No debate here either:o it was just my humble personal preference. I really value your comments and I thank you for your kindness. I do try to be faithful to reality. I seem to be always concerned that the paintings have a sense of place and time. Of course, they are always subjected to my personal filters when I respond in paint to what I see. Mostly that comes out for me in subtle color choices and brush stokes. I think that is why I am drawn to other painters who seem to be even freer in their responses and bolder in their color choices.

nice presence of light.

Appropriate I can hear birds singin' away outside as I view this!

Sometimes it hits me weird though, you southern painters and all these palms.

Definitely another world!

School's finally out...and so I have to begin my regimen of painting, and gallery contacts again. That and an occasional gig.

Played this past weekend, and we opened up for Alex Harvey. Interesting artist. He wrote many songs for Kenny Rogers, Billy Rae, Helen Ready and on and on. We all exchanged CD's when we were done. Pics and an update on my site for those interested in my distraction away from painting! hahaha
