I remember seeing this image from your trip... your textures on the walls are terrific... I like Doug's suggestions to play up the light and shadow.

You choose a difficult reference to start your Italy paintings with! All that stone, :eek: But, you were definitely up to the challange, I like how you added color to the grays and just enough horizontal lines to show the texture of the rough stones of the wall.
I think Doug's idea enhances the image a lot because you already had the feeling of light at the far side of the wall, if you add the shadows he suggests, it makes it even more lightfilled.

Heidi - You've done a great job on this very challenging subject. Good texture on the walls and the roadway. I can almost feel the unevenness of the stones and how wobbly it can be to walk on them. I agree with Doug's suggestion about the shadow. It really punches up an already lovely painting.
