This is my latest. It's a view from Mullet Lake Park in Sanford on the St. Johns River. It's 22" x 28 - Oil on Canvas, done over three 2 hour sessions, wet over dry. This is my favorite type of painting. It was such a peaceful place to paint even if it was hot as hades!

Brenda............Both of these posts of yours are very well done. I guess I associate with this one the most, with the more open space.
I spent some time in east Texas this spring, took my paints all the way from Wyo. and was totally intimidated by the closed in landscape. I didn,t even wet a brush.
I really respect all of you that can pull a painting out of that wall of greenery.

Brenda, This is a beauty. I can see a red dot on it in the future!
Wonderful foreground.
I think I see pink in the sky and water. Is there any thalo rose or aliz in there anywhere?

Marvelous job here, I really like your foreground grasses. It has such a spacious wide open feel to it.

Gorgeous painting!
This is my favorite type of painting too, especially when they're this extraordinary. Marvelous job!

Wow! Thanks to Linda, Cathleen, Cherie, and KC for your kind words! Especially since the reproduction is kinda crappy! Any advise on how to keep jpgs. from getting all wavy and blurry?
Renee, I do use a touch of Aliz in the sky (all that pollution) and water and in the dead grasses. They change color as the sun marches across the sky. Sometimes they are pinker, sometimes yellower, and later in the day they turn a blue/grey/purple.
Bud, I know what you mean. I worked on the two paintings in the same week. The gardens on Tuesday and the vista on Thursday. It was always so much easier to paint the vista for me! I like the challenge of the closed composition sometimes though.

Really nice one. The peacefulness of the place comes through loud and clear in your painting.
