I do not know if this is the right site but at college today we watched a video on Turner and then did some painting like Turner on blue paper. We used Gouache paint. Hope you like it I have not finnished as yet as it took nearly an hour to draw the cupboard.
I have put the picture I was coping next to the painting.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/01-Nov-2007/78136-Cupboard_stage_1.JPG

I love Turners work..:)
Looking good so far..
Copying the masters is a great way to learn different styles and technique, but more importantly it reaches us to look and really see..:)

You have a very good start Gill, nice.

You can't pick a better Master to emulate than Turner. You should learn a lot by studying his work closely, which is what you have to do to copy one of his paintings.
Looks like you have a very nice start here.

Forgot to take the masking tape off

Here it is with the masking tape cropped off:
I'm not familiar with the Turner painting you used as your reference, but you did a very nice job showing the way the cupboard fits into a corner.
Are you using a tube black for your stripes on the floor and for your grays?
You might try mixing your darks from combos of colors like French Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna to get livelier darks. ;)

Gill this is a great study!!
Have a look in the Learning Demo's ......click on the link in my signature line.............and scroll down to Colour Mixing and Theory.. There are some good threads there and mixing black is one of them..:)

Interesting painting and I like the crop. Are the shelves bowing slightly or are they just oddly angled?
