Even in our "exceptional" drought I have been able to find a few gems to paint! Witness my dead azalea:

We've had a good soaking rain here in Raleigh for the last few days. I'm not complaining about being stuck inside at all.

I'm glad you gave that azalea one last bit of glory.

Hi Jo. I've been hearing a lot about that drought. I hope you get some steady rain soon. Are you gettting the current rainfall that we're having here in the Northeast? I really like this painting. The red against the green works, and the harmonized orange sky against the reds too. That branch going across is just the right compositional touch!

Yes, we had some rain, really close to 3", but the lakes are down nearly 13" and we are still unable to use any outside water.
What you think is the yellow sky is my yellow grass beyond the shade of the tree I was under. :D

Sorry about your azalea but this is a beautiful painting! I love the shapes of the branches and the colors you used.

Jo,

Wow, that's an exciting painting. The negative space on this is super. I'm glad you pushed up the chroma. It's lovely!

it's the vibration of the red and green and violet and orange that really make that azalea glow. Don't we typically expect that from the blooms?

Nicely done and I'll trade you some Northwest rain for this.... Barb
