Art for A Cause Gallery
Open Call - Deadline - Received by November 1, 2007
This is an open call to artists without gallery representation. Juried exhibit showcasing contemporary and fiber art in two 5000 sq. ft. galleries in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District of Miami.
This event runs concurrent with Art Basel, Pulse, Aqua, Nada, Design Miami, Scope, and others during Dec. 6-9, 2007.
Art for a Cause Gallery is a fund-raising event of the Dellutri Family Christmas Foundation. The Foundation provides an annual Christmas party and gifts for more than 8000 children in Miami-Dade County, including 1800 children in Wynwood ; is providing, through the generosity of Old Navy, 100,000 articles of clothing to children in Wynwood; has an outreach program for senior citizens in Wynwood; and is providing 180 children with personal finances education in partnership with Regions Bank.
Artists may submit up to three images for consideration. All art works must be able to fit through a standard 32" wide x 84" high door. Submissions may be made via email to [email protected] ([email protected]) Please send a photo of each whole piece of art and another photo showing detail. Jurors to be announced. Artists will be notified of acceptance by November 15, 2007. Please include your name, address, and phone number.
Art for a Cause Gallery will be open from 11:00am - 8:00pm Dec. 6-9, 2007; later Saturday, Dec. 8, for a special event. Opening reception Wednesday, Dec. 5, 6:00pm--8:00pm.
Special events include a tour of the Wynwood Arts District by Art Basel Dec. 6, from 9:00am - 12:00pm. There will also be a special street fair in Wynwood Saturday, Dec. 8., 7:00pm - ?
The Art for a Cause Gallery is located in the building that houses Salís Abatement, Inc. and the Foundation, 301 NW 36th St., Miami, FL 33127. Itís a 28,000 sq. ft. building visible from 195. It is alarmed with shuttered doors and locked barb wire fencing at night. Lots of parking. The City of Miami Police have the keys to the building, as they use it as a base for their sting operations.
Artists will drop off art Dec. 3 & 4, or ship to the above address to be received no later than Dec. 4. Pick-up will be Dec. 10 & 11. Artists are responsible for return shipping fees.
Artists must provide insurance or self-insure their art.
The Art for a Cause Gallery will retain a 40% commission on each art work sold. There are no other artist costs or fees.
