But clearly not new to art or to pastels! What a lovely portrait, beautifully executed. I'd love to know more about it: surface, kind of pastels, size, and who is the subject (a very interesting looking one!)? And be sure to drop by Pastel Talk and introduce yourself!

Thanks for the reply and kind words..this painting is painted on sued matboard using nu-pastels and some softer ones on the background and clothes but just nu-pastel on the face..this gentlemean was at festival i went to..i added the earring....

Alicia, remember me? I did the interview with you a few years ago for the Pastel Journal! Good to see you posting here.

I immediately thought of Albert Handell when I saw this one... Similar features, and the beard, of course. Beautifully done.

Good LORD what fantastic work! The beard texture looks like lambs wool! so soft but it also has density! Another portrait artist to put under my FAv's

Alicia, I have been busy the past few days....I come back in to check out what's been happening in the soft pastels forum and I am totally floored!!! Your work takes my breath away....welcome to WC. Your technique is amazing. If you ever do a WIP, I want to sit up front. Seeing your work has reinforced my desire to continue to study and work in portraits. Beautiful work!

i reallly am enjoying looking at everyones work i hope to look at all of the ones who have commented on my painting...i will post my next painting in different stages...but right now i am learning oils so i have a painting to finish for that and i am getting ready for my fall show at my studio/gallery at the end of october..so when things settle i will show a WIP...thanks for the great comments everyone.....
