Hi,
I just found this thread and I'm really enjoying viewing everyone's art on here.
This is a piece I did as a commission.
Snow Canyon is near St. George Utah.

Hi! Very nice work! I've been to Snow Canyon many years ago and I still have quite a few photos. I don't know if I've ever painted anything from any of them, I might have.

Good job Betty!
Good shadows and texture on the cactus.

I've got to get down south this winter for some of that myself! :)

Thanks Jim,
Yes you must go down there, it's such a great time from now until spring.
My art partner and I travelled down there just to see the Art Community "Kayenta", near St. George it's fantastic, don't miss it.

Thanks Darlene,
I've really enjoyed painting the red rocks.

Nice cactus and love the compliments and the purple shadows. We have never been to that corner of Utah. Kanab is the closest we made to that area. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done... the heavy shadows give such a wonderful feel of sun. I also like the loose brushstrokes for the near grasses and shrub.

Thanks Jo, Andrea & Diane,
It's actually a Joshua Tree, Lot's of them in Southern Utah & Arizona.
It seems the more I enjoy a subject the looser I paint.

Just discovered this forum and I'm checking out all the posts. This is beautiful, Betty. I grew up in Kanab and have spent many, many days in and around St. George. You've certainly caught the light. Very nice indeed.

Betty, you did a wonderful job on the Joshua tree and the rocks. I love the depth that you achieved with the use of shadows.
