Lovely painting Garry. The leaves look like it might be an agapanthus, although I have never seen a yellow/orange one - I have white and blue ones in my garden.
I have enjoyed many a stroll through the Melbourne botanical garden when I used to live in Melbourne. It is one of the best botanical gardens I have ever seen. So they still do those lovely scones with cream at the kiosk?

Garry, this is quite lovely. Your greens are varied and good and the blossoms are perfect! Well done.

This is a Clivia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clivia); the flowers are usually red or red-orange, but these paler colors, including a lovely yellow, have been hybridized in recent years. You've got a nice balance of light and dark in this piece!

It's very striking work. I like the strong contrast of the flower against the leaves.

Lovely piece! What a nice balance you have achieved. The shading is very realistic and I am impressed with how natural the leaves appear and how they fit in as part of the picture, rather than sit as background as sometimes appears to be the case.

Finnegan18 & Bev
Thanks for dopping in for a look and posting your comments.
I also like the way the greens worked in this painting, and was thinking of doing a painting of Agapanthus leaves only:)

I have not seen this flower, Clivia (as identified by Rose Queen) in my area. The leaf shape somewhat resembles Iris leaves. Very pretty colors and I can see why you might be interested in painting just the leaves. Lovely painting.

Beautiful painting. I knew what it was the minute I saw it. I have been longing for one for quite some time. Here in Northern Indiana it would be kept as a house plant.

Excellent foreshortening and depth here.
