Acrylic 10X24 on canvas
Does the compositon work?

not for me but that's just MHO. i'd crop some off one side or the other so the vase/flowers were not centered.

This is nicely painted. I have to agree about the composition and it would benefit from a crop on the right side almost to the edge of the vase.

Thank you for your input. I knew I had a problem here and I needed some ideas.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/08-Oct-2007/111636-dinnerfortwocropped2.jpg
I have to restretch this canvas anway, so I can do pretty much what I want with it.
Which one works best?

I prefer the second one.

Well, the ulitmate critic-in-charge has rendered her verdict.
My wife likes the original crop, so that's it!

The first one of your second post looks perfect to me !

I have to agree with Gilberte. The first crop. The second crop just seems too squashed.

My vote would be for the first crop too - because I like the shape of the flower group and then the whole group in that one :D
I do hope this the one your wife likes too! (as opposed to the original painting!)
Nice painting too - like the muted colours.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. That wide format came about when I scratched a previous effort on that canvas and scouted around for a setup that would be appropriate for it.
As I look at it, I think that the unusually wide format adds something to it, so I'll follow the head critic's advice and leave it as is.

Lovely painting. I like the second crop.

When I saw your first image, I thought "Wow". I do like the first crop, but your original picture is stunning. Go with your gut and what you think is correct. We didn't put a single stroke of paint on your picture. I think you are a great artist.
