Mornin' all. Another new week. Seems we have gotten through the uploader glitches of the past few weeks. WC! has new servers so many of the issues such as slow page loads, not being able to upload images, etc are a thing of the past.

I am going to Florida on Saturday. I am meeting my sister in Orlando with her children and hubby. This is her first trip to the States, so I am thrilled that she is finally getting to see my bit of turf.

I went to The American Visionary Art Museum (http://www.avam.org/) yesterday. It is definately modern/contemporary art. There were a lot of "scultpures" made out of various things. For example, one work was medicine bottles arranged in an interesting fashion. One neat section had some a bunch of works done with ink. The detail was so small that they provided magnifying glasses to inspect closer.

I walked around Inner Harbor for a bit. Got a Chicken Caesar Wrap and ice cream. I went into the huge Barnes and Nobles there and got some art magazines.

I just wanted to say, I love long weekends. It just hit me a few minutes ago that I can sleep in again tomorrow.

Spent a lovely fall day at the Topsfield Fair, or at least part of it. I was an attendee not a worker on this day and it was fun.

In the flowers and veggies building I found this box of pumpkins and a 1,689 pound pumpkin as well. It was huge.

After the fall fair went to a mall and did a bit of retail therapy. Wonderful time and great day spent with friends.

More images from the agfair.

These have not been modified or retouched. Straight out of the camera.

I've had family visiting for the last few days! I think there might be a couple of emerging artists in the family :)

oh what fun to see the work of children. Just to have that mindset again would be a treat.

I'm on the last leg of my trip from Los Angeles to Spokane WA today. Got some great pics of the Northwest outdoors. Spent an afternoon at Crater Lake OR on the return and really enjoyed it. Hope to paint a few of the landscapes I photographed. I'll post a couple when I return tomorrow.

Fall is starting to arrive in New England and the colors are somewhat subtle and muted, more so than I have remembered in the past. Still very lovely and charming but different.

Delightful photos - I can see that leaf one as a painting - it jumped out at me! :D

The guourds etc are lovely aren't they - I love seeing them and touching them!

Yesterday on TV - a HUGE pumpkin thing was dropped from a crane onto the roof of a truck - both smashed! ..... it was like the one you posted earlier Howard :D

Like lots of others, I'm a bit busy ... so I'll be back later :D

That is some traditional US thing that happens every year. I saw that footage too :D

Well, it had to be American didn't it?:lol:

As long as the truck wasn't Howard's!!!!!!!!

Wasn't mine, whew!

There is a pumpkin chunkin' contest in Delaware about this time of year and the objective is to see how far a pumpkin can travel. They use air cannons, catapults, anything to throw the weight of a pumpkin. There are size restrictions on the pumpkins to make an equal playing field of sorts. But it is a big deal and supposedly a bit of a giggle.

This caught my attention.

Just a few images from my travels

Wow.Howard - that is one enormous pumpkin. Wonder how long it took to grow or whether it was pumped full of steroids!!! It's pumpkin season here too and we are really enjoying the variety. The trees are just starting to turn and it is so beautiful. At last some lovely sunshine although it is getting pretty chilly here in Hamburg. I love riding my bike through crispy Autumn leaves. Also love the smell of the leaves and the little red squirrels with their horn like ears scampering around collecting acorns. Just about my favourite time of the year. Another wonderful thing is the enormous variety of mushrooms, large and fleshy, small and spicy - simply delicious.

From what I gather they are grown in one season and are a hybridized variety and the seeds will be used for next years crop in an effort to grow an even larger one. This little guy is 1,689 pounds. Personally I doubt it edible while the tiny ones can be sweet and tender. A real pumpkin pie material.

Weather is finally turning cold and it is to be in the upper 30's by tonight.

Heading south this weekend. Have two more events to work and then home for a few weeks.

Yeah, it's cold here, too. Only 60 outside, and will be in the 30's tonight.

A few days ago, it was getting up to 90.

I was quite enjoying that warm spell too. Oh well. I suspect that is the end of it until next year.

Ah, the weekend at last. Made a liquor store run on the way home from work and bought, among things, this bottle of delicious Jack Daniel's Single Barrel:
