Matisse in his Paris studio 1939.
I wonder if anyone else finds this photo as amusing as I do?

Yes, I find it amusing, also..It seems, to me, to show Matisse as a "decorative" painter...he looks like a doctor examining a patient and then there's that complicated painting in the foreground, all color and design...kind of like he was working out a formula for a new design while observing "the patient"....a little cold and stirile, to me.

I disagree. I think he is holding that white pad in such a strategic position as to hide his enthusiasm... http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

Nice quote from your site, CkA. Also enjoyed looking at your work...seems inspired by the american southwest, some of it..

Thanks! Never been to the SW but my husband is from Cyprus and we got there every year. The climate is similar.
